Another week, another Share Your Battle Competition! This time we are trying to win a battle with the Armored Up Ruleset. This Ruleset is definitely one that comes up more often than others. At least that is how it feels sometimes. In general there are a view ways to go about this special ruleset. In this article we will discuss a few ways on how to use this ruleset to your advantage. On top of that we will look at some potential and useful cards and in the end we will take a look at some example battles. With that out of the way, let’s jump right into it!

Armored Up! – General Strategies

First things first, let’s talk about the ruleset itself. As the name suggests, we are able to get additional armor through this ruleset. But not only our monsters will receive an additional boost, but also our opponent will get one. This means that the battle might take longer than usual and effect like Thorns or Void Armor can be used longer.

So what do we do once we are facing this special ruleset? Well, in my opinion there are two effective ways to battle this out. The first one being is to use magic attackers. This way we can go around the annoying armor and damage straight away the health of the opponents! In my opinion this is the best way to deal with a given situation like this. On the other hand, we can also use the additional armor to our advantage by using Thorns monsters. This allows us to deal out more damage as usual because the monster in question can take more damage thanks to the additional armor.

Useful Cards

With the general strategies outlined, let’s take a look at some useful cards here. First up, let’s talk about the Thorns cards here. I really like to use Djinn Chwala and the Cursed Windeku. Both of these cards have great stats. While Chwala is a Dragon and can be used with any other Splinter, the Windeku will only be used with the death Splinter. Well, in our Melee only battle later, we will see that both are used at the same time. In my opinion they are not only great cards because of this Ability but also due to their attacking and speed values. Both cards are actually able to deal some great damage on their own!

If we are talking about the other category of cards, we need to talk about the Magic attackers! Like mentioned before, they will not be harmed by the additional armor since they only attack the health of the target minion. Here we can name many magic cards that actually are great but I want to draw your attention to these specific ones. First up we have the Chaos Dragon who is dealing 3 damage by himself. Not only this but with 4 armor and 10 health combined with the 3 speed that he has, makes him an absolute beast! What’s more is that he has the Scatter Shot Ability which means that his attacks are literal Chaos! He will attack any support monster which makes him that much more valuable in these scenarios.

The other card is Captain Katie. She is shining with 3 magic attack as well but also with the Sniper and the Bloodlust Ability. Not only will she Snipe away potential magic or ranged attack from the enemy, but every time she gets rid of one her stats will raise. This means that she will get stronger with every kill and because 3 mana attacks do not need a long time to actually defeat other monsters this card is an absolute crack in this specific ruleset!

Example Battles

With all of this being said, let’s take a look at both strategies. In the first battle, we were limited by the Melee only ruleset as well. This is nothing bad and actually allows us to use the Thorns strategy here! In the second battle we are using the magic strategy which also works like a blast! Very quickly you will recognize that both strategies can be very effective. It all depends on the actual scenario.

While in the first battle the Thorns damage from Djinn Chwala made an enormous difference, the second battle was very quickly over by Captain Katie who was snowballing her strength. In both battles our opponents had very similar strategies. While the first one used the Shields Ability to protect himself as long as possible, the second battle was very much populated by Magic attackers. All in all I am curious to hear your opinion on these strategies and see what other players use to win these kind of rulesets.
