In today’s week “Share Your Battle” Challenge it is all about dragons! In this article I want to talk a little bit from the other perspective. Not from the winning perspective but actually from the losing perspective and how the Dragon Splinter is actually one of the strongest one in the game. We will discuss my particular battle and what I was thinking going into the battle. Furthermore, we will discuss how my strategy was shamelessly countered by my opponent. With this being said, let’s jump straight into some of the most interesting Dragon cards in general. I will focus on the Melee monsters since my battle had the specific no-magic ruleset.

Djinn Chwala

Let’s start with a dragon card that probably everybody owns by now: Djinn Chwala. Despite the fact that this card is a reward card, I think that this card is one of the strongest ones out there. Because of its 5 armor, paired with 9 health, this card has plenty of hit points to take which makes it the perfect tank or bumper at the back. But not only its stats give this card this generous position, its Ability: Thorns is also contributing to its perfect tank status. Every time this card is getting hit by a melee card, the attacker will suffer 2 damage. This is extremely effective if the cards that are attacking this card has low health points which would ultimately kill them.

With higher levels this card gets even higher attacking points which makes it a very nice attacking tank as well. Now imagine, this card can attack from wherever it wants because the ruleset gives every card the Opportunity Ability. Now you are having the perfect mixture for this card where you can make the most amount of damage. This is exactly what happened in the following battle but more on this a little bit down below.

Desert Dragon

Another great Melee Dragon is the Desert Dragon. This card is very similar to the Diemonshark from the Water-Splinter. Because of its Trample ability this card will attack once again if it manages to kill another monster. With 4 melee attack this pays out very quickly, especially if we take a look at the additional abilities that this card gets along the way. The piercing ability obviously helps this card to deal more damage and will help to kill more monsters which ultimately leads to more attacks. Not only that but at level three this card even gets the retaliate ability which gives it the chance to attack back!

With 3 armor and 6 health this card makes a very good tank which will get better if you can place this card anywhere you want because of the opportunity Ability. You will quickly notice that this card can destroy entire teams with the help of the Opportunity Ability which is why this card was a very smart move by our opponent in the follow up battle.

Dragon Jumper

Last but not least I want to talk about a card that I do not see very often: Dragon Jumper. It was very interesting going against such a rare card and I could immediately see the benefits. Even without the specific ruleset, this card brings the Opportunity Ability. Additionally, it has the Flying ability and 5 speed which makes him very hard to hit and probably the first one to attack. With its 3 melee damage it will almost certainly kill the lowest health monster of your opponent which is why this card is almost 60 USD on the market!

With higher levels this card get even more of a beast! With a potential 5 melee attack and additional Stun and Snare ability this card is very hard to hit and will make sure that its targets are ready to die. For the current battle this card was a very effective card for our opponent and was the reason why my strategy did not work out as wished. Well, it would not have worked out without this card as well but it had a big impact nevertheless.

The Battle – Personal Demolition

This brings me to the actual battle. It was a demolition that I did not see for a while. Going into this battle I chose the best Melee attacker that I had. With the plan to open with the Explosive rat and hit some of our opponent’s minions at the same time. If we would have been able to attack first we would have dealt 8 damage in total immediately. Unfortunately for us, our opponent had the perfect counter for that! Because he slowed our monsters down and had the dragon Jumper himself, he eliminated our opening card leaving us with one card short already.

In this particular battle the dragon choice paid off massively as our opponent was in the lead for the whole battle. His cards were just too strong although I would argue that our team was not the worst one. Because of the Opportunity Ruleset I was assuming that our opponent would take mostly Melee attackers which is why I used the Disintegrator but even that did not stop him from deleting all of our units in almost two Rounds.

Especially the Speed Advantage was something that I always talk about! Because he was able to attack with almost all of his units before we could even lift a foot, he had the advantage on his side from minute one and we were only able to watch and learn for our next battles.
