Alright! Another very interesting “Share Your Battle” competition that we are facing here. This time around with the Gem Meteor. It is a neutral card, so we will have plenty of opportunities to try it out. This also means that there are a lot of different strategies to play with this card. In this article we will take a closer look at this card. Furthermore, we will line up our squad and last but not least see how well we will do in a battle and whether our strategy will work. With that being said, let’s jump straight into it!

Gem Meteor

First things first, the Gem Meteor is a neutral epic card. It is a Ranged attacker that cost 5 mana and has on the base level 1 attack, 4 speed and 5 health. A very solid card if you ask me but unfortunately the weakest attacking style of the three possible ones. On higher levels this card can max out with 4 attack which is a pretty solid jump from the beginner’s stage. On the other hand it will only gain one more speed and no health. The interesting part about this card is its ability anyways. With Scatter-Shot this card is the perfect mixture for some RNG in the battles. So if you feel like rolling the dice on this one, feel free! Furthermore, one of the biggest advantage this card has, is that it is not bounded to attack the Taunt monsters, which could destroy the enemies strategy completely.

In general this Ability is a double edged sword. In many cases, the attacks do not land where you want them to. In this case a ruleset with no abilities is actually very beneficial for this card because I think that this card is a solid 5 mana card that I would play without the ability more often. Other rulesets where I would use this card are when Melee cards are definitely forbidden or the close Ranged Ruleset. On the other hand, I would try to avoid rulesets that have poison or earthquake in them.

Which Element?

Because the Gem Meteor is a ranged attacker, it is very clear that many users of this card would chose General Sloan. To be honest, In the majority of cases I would also like to use the Life Summoner. Especially in combination with the Life card that also has the Scatter shot Ability, this just makes sense and you would also get an extra buff in your attack. On the other hand, I chose Obsidian this time. It might be a little disadvantageous but I thought I would give it a try since Earth is my favorite Splinter anyways.

Strategy?

Well, due to our previous choice there are some basic cards that I like to play with this set up. Frist up we need something to absorb the hits. This could be something big and juicy or something with the Taunt Ability. In our case we had both options and I would like to focus on the Mycelic Slipspawn. Not only does this card allows us to have some planning in our strategy, it also distributes the damage between our tank and this card. This way, both cards are taking some damage but get to see the day light of the next turn!

Furthermore, we can not forget about the Queen! This legendary card can not be forgotten in any Earth Squad. Not only is she a Magic attacker but also provides Armor to all of our monsters. This way we can have the strongest attacking style on the field and at the same time protect ourselves very easily against melee and ranged attackers. In the specific use case of additional Thorns ruleset, it is even better, because it gives us more opportunities to get the thorns Ability to activate!

Last but not least we have the Psychic Goblin who is not only shining because of his very respectable attack but also due to his healing Ability. With this we can ensure that our tank can regenerate and take more damage. On top of that we extend the damage taking and therefore the Thorns damage dealing which ultimately means that we are able to deal more damage.

Example Battle

With this out of the way, let’s take a look at the battle. Like previously mentioned, we have 2 Rulesets that are bonding us in this battle: Thorns and Secure Hit where all monsters can not miss. Furthermore, we are up against a Life team that has also a support card that provides them an extra 2 armor. In comparison to us, their support card can not attack which is a great advantage for us. This brings us to the battle. Because he chose a tank with Taunt, we should only attack this card. But because of the scatter-Shot ability we are able to overgo this. Now, to be honest, the Ranged attacking had almost no influence on the outcome of the battle, it is important to know that these kind of monsters can have an impact on your and you opponent’s strategy! In the end we were able to win very comfortably as Magic attackers will be always a great advantage against Life.
