First HIVE Liquidity Pool Outside Our Ecosystem

in LeoFinance2 years ago

Nobody can succeed in isolation, especially when we live in such an interconnected world. Look at Russia and how they are struggling, even though it's a huge country and more than half the planet didn't apply any kind of sanctions to them, as far as I know.

This is obviously a forced comparison, and the Hive ecosystem is the opposite of Russia in many ways, except for one: it seems a bit isolated. For example, we don't have many listings for our tokens on major exchanges and didn't have any LPs in the AMM world until recently. And that matters when someone checks out a project to invest in: to see what are the routes to move funds in and out of the ecosystem.

We actually had a HIVE pairing with ETH on Uniswap, as far as I remember. Probably Ethereum's high gas fees killed it.

But things started to change with the introduction of the pHBD-USDC LP on PolyCub about three weeks ago. It was obviously needed since HBD benefited from the least exposure to the outside world, and with the increased APR for HBD in savings, this came at the right time.

Yesterday - I'm sure you've seen by now - HIVE also got its own LP on PolyCub, namely pHIVE-POLYCUB. This time, pHIVE is paired with POLYCUB, which should provide value to both of them.

pHIVE, just like pHBD, is listed on SushiSwap (on Polygon), which makes it accessible to a huge ecosystem, and exchangeable to any of the tokens supported on Polygon, at very low fees.

The vice-versa is also true, both pHIVE and pHBD can be bought with any tokens from Polygon, with one important condition: that the liquidity pools are deep enough to support the desired amounts without high slippage.

While HIVE can be partially powered down if one needs liquidity because many have plenty of HIVE powered up, liquid HBD is harder to come by. Most of it is 'trapped' in the DHF (Decentralized Hive Fund), and the easiest way to free it is to buy it on the internal market with HIVE. If one thinks the market is heading to lower levels, it might be a good move as well, to exchange a volatile token for a more stable one (not financial advice, not even something I do currently for HIVE and HBD).

We also need to see in perspective. Sometimes it's hard to look at Cub Finance and see the price at which CUB is now, but thinking not too long into the future and knowing all or most updates on PolyCub will be ported back on CubFinance, helps a bit (only a bit).

Only to think about HBD and HIVE, imagine that after being in no other ecosystem, by the end of the year (hopefully sooner), we will have them in two major ecosystems: Polygon and Binance Smart Chain. And that comes with added benefits to the platforms themselves, PolyCub and Cub Finance.

I think you are right @gadrian. It would really help Hive with larger investors.

I believe so, yes. Thanks for dropping by, John.

I'd really like more HBD exposure, maybe pHBD is an option.

Sure, I see many people on Hive starting to reevaluate HBD and their exposure to it. So, that's a good thing to look into. HBD in savings or pHBD in the LP, it really depends on amounts, preference (including regarding risk), and if you want a more hands-on or hands-off approach.

Hands off is preferred

HBD in savings is more hands-off because you don't have to claim rewards regularly to compound them.

Russia struggling ? nah comrade, it's all imperialistic propaganda :)))

Of course! Who am I to argue... comrade. :)

I'm happy to see HBD getting so much attention... but what about HIVE? Seems like it's sinking in the mud.

PolyCub just added a HIVE liquidity pool. So, I wouldn't say it's out of people's minds.

Personally, I have both HP and HBD targets for this year, so I'm interested in both. But the price of HIVE is more volatile and will move with the general crypto market, which has been going rather down recently. I'm ok with that, more buying opportunities and more HIVE earned for posting.

These two guys are still in my mind: CUB and POLYCUB. Soon I will add. 😄

Yep, it doesn't hurt to have some exposure on both platforms. At least we know the team and that they'll keep working on them.

CUB is more attractive now than the day the POLYCUB airdrop was announced.

Yes, because many bought CUB for the airdrop, and now that the airdrop is almost over I believe many are dumping it, possibly for pHBD-USDC, for the stable kingdom on CubDefi, or for the CUB-BUSD LP. Just speculating here.

It's nice to see the option there but I wonder if it's really an arbitrage opportunity or not. It's 2x swap fee + 2x wrap fee to move in and out of the system. So it's 0.5% + 0.6% plus any transaction fees and any slippage you may incur. I do agree that it will be easier to get HBD though from the pool than through the internal market.

Yes, for arbitrage, it's important to keep in mind all these fees.

Actually, for reasonably small amounts, it is easier to get HBD from the internal market than from the pool.
