I also believe the recurring payments open up a whole range of possibilities and may attract the interest for big markets that follow the subscription model.
but at least useful posts with good content can be upvoted higher. I think the curator still gets a reward, im not sure, to be honest.
No and no... Unless some front ends will implement the option to sort based on the number of votes.
That's the main reason for it. To allow people to 'like' content, even if it's outside the 7 days reward window. It used to be allowed, but a previous HF disallowed it. Probably for optimization reasons, because this kind of vote has no value other than social.
