I've never thought of "future-proofing" as you call it... Lol.
I have all my keys in a secure place that my family can easily access, but they wouldn't even know what to do with it if they found it. Got to start taking steps to make everything secure and future-proof.

The good thing is the keys and seed-phrases are available to your next of kin but yep, they need to know what to do with it. I'm lucky my brother is into it and so knows what to do.
A little forethought will go a long way after your demise and can help those you leave behind take advantage of your crypto, just I want my wife to do.
