As part of the efforts to have Bitcoin reach mainstream adoption, over 10,000 Bitcoin ATMs have now been installed globally. The beauty of this move is that it gives more people across the globe the opportunity to buy and sell Bitcoin and other altcoins with everyday traditional ATM experience. As the adoption of Bitcoin grows, it is expected that more Bitcoin ATM machines will be installed globally.
This milestone is significant because the first Bitcoin ATM machine was installed about seven years ago, less than 4,000 existed until September last year, and now over 6,000 were installed in less than a year. If this pace is sustained, then well over 100,000 Bitcoin ATMs could exist within the next decade.
Presently, about 80% of all Bitcoin ATMs in circulation are installed in the United States, unarguably making it the country with the most installed Bitcoin ATM in the world. Other countries in Europe account for about 5% of total Bitcoin ATMs in circulation while the rest are distributed amongst countries in Asia and Africa.
A major advantage of the distribution of Bitcoin ATMs is that it makes it easier for more people to interact with cryptocurrencies without necessarily needing to face the hassle of using private keys, thereby giving rooms for more adoption.
