I have seen a lot of people who work for a very long time and haven't gotten a promotion in their years of working. When people work, they want to ensure that they see that they're are growing. This growth could be an increase on salary, working in a better place compared to their previous place of work, and/or promotion at their place of work.
When you get to a place of work for the first time, you are very timid, gentle, shy, trying to mind your business and just want to do your job, but then you realise that there is a ladder to the top. While a lot of people see the ladder, a lot of people do not even go through the probation period while others get pass it but then they are stuck at that position for years or even a decade. When you say for a very long period of time in a position, you then become the very person who can be easily replaced by any other person. You are at the left desk at the ground floor or basement.
It is a different thing to know you have a promotion to get and it is in some other level to get this promotion. Do not forget that a promotion comes with increased salary which in turns buy you a better way of life.
When people stay too long in a position with no promotion, they start to hop jobs instead of starting to find solutions to problems. Finding solutions to problems is one very way to get the attention you need from your boss and subordinates. Bringing values to the company comes from how much solutions you bring to the table.
You start to grow yourself more so you can be valuable to the company. The greatest investment is investing in yourself. You start to grow yourself to grow the company. You Need to understand how to do things on your own and how to get people to work with you.
When you start to get people to work with you and you start to bring innovative ideas to the company it is possible that you get a promotion but if yhe promotion isn't forthcoming, it is no doubt that you would be giving chances to do a few things by yourself because the company now sees you as an asset. At this point you start to look into how to grow the company in your field with a streamlined budget so the company knows you can handle both finance and managerial roles in the company.
When you make yourself a person whom the company wouldn't want to lose, then you are getting becoming an asset, being considered for promotion. If your boss Haa a vision, your job is to execute the vision. You are aiming to become partner and if you can be able to work beyond your designed desk job.
When working, it is no doubt that promotions comes with lots of work, as well as a good financial increase but it doesn't come by sitting behind the desk and doing the job you were assigned as you entered.
