I started blogging on Steemit in 2016, so I am going on 7 years of doing this. Before Steemit I had of course heard of people getting rich off of blogs in which they just wrote about things that interested a determinate group of people. In fact I met a young girl who did a vacation time at the place I worked, who actually had a blog (first person who owned a blog I ever met). Her blog was about designing blouses, that was it, she would draw one, upload the drawing and somehow she got a good following. Eventually some Italian boutique company that makes clothes heard of her, liked her designs, hired her, took her to Italy and now she designs clothes and periodically travels to several Asian countries to pick the designs she wants for the cloth for her creations.
A complete blogging success. Was I envious or excited or inclined to try to repeat her story? Not at all, I have no major activity I am excellent at, I am not good with words and I am not even good at making friends so certainly I was sure blogging was not for me. But for some reason when I heard about Steemit I was kind of partial to it, I suddenly figured I could write stuff that was good enough for me to make money.
Boy was I wrong, I actually have very little talent for writing so the first couple of years I just wrote because I am pig headed and decided I would not quit until I had enough to make a cash out. Now, as everyone knows practice makes perfect, in my case not exactly perfect but my work did improve and as you can see I have kept at it, on different platforms for quite a long time, and frankly I have benefited from it in lots of ways. a little money, experience, interactions with very interesting people a few heated arguments with people whose points of view I didn't agree with, all in all blogging on Social Crypto platforms has been great for me.
But the question is: is it work or fun? OK, when I work I expect to get paid, on crypto socials I am not sure my work will make me anything, on the other hand I do put in time, effort and a little research to write what I post which is work. But again, on the other hand I enjoy doing this and I learn a few things. So my answer to my own question is that blogging on crypto platforms for me is a little work and a lot of fun. I can't make a living off of it, but I can make a few dollars, and sometimes I get a few good comments on my work, which make my day. So it is both work and fun, I do hope I can get to make more money from this but even if I don't I think it is still time well spent.
