I had my first hints about the internet in the mid nineties, the company I worked for was starting to use it. Then for two years after Hurricane Mitch I was out of a job and without internet. Then my company offered me the job again, and having no other option I took it. After I was back on my feet I bought my first computer and by then there was an ISP in town so I opted in for a plan. I think it was 128 mbps. Slow but I just liked the thrill of having internet.
Of course I kept upgrading my account and browsing the web, until it ocurred to me I could make money on the net. Now I am not good at making money, i guess I am too static. But here I was being shown that without investing and just using free traffic exchanges and free ad sites I could get things moving. Well I tried but nothing came of it. then I noticed there were a lot of ebooks for sale that showed you the real way to make money online.
Now I don't know if I am a crook or what but I rapidly found out I could download these ebooks for free, they all were about the same thing join a lot of programs, mostly traffic programs, upgrade to get mor exposure and that way I could get sales. What couls I sell? Well i had the perfect product in my hand an ebook that shared the secret of making money online. Now yes, this works but it is like a Ponzi scheme, I sell you the book, on which I have already changed every afilliate link to mine and try to get you to join all the programs under my link and, voila, I do get to have a residual income. Trouble is hardly any body wants to spend money, everyone wants to make money, so these types of programs are very close to scams.
Then they will bombard you with the fact you have to have a list, because the money is in the list. The problem I saw with this, is that again people want to make money not spend it. So I finally understood that there is money to be made by selling things on the internet, but you have to have a lot of cash to do a lot of advertising. So my dreams of making money on the internet crashed and that was that.
Then one day when Patyza, which was a payment platform like Paypal was going down, i had a few dollars in it and I saw an ebook that said make money just by writing short articles. That looked good so I bought it. It was about Steemit and it opened a whole new world for me. I did not make much but I learned a lot. I also saw that crypto was probably not a one hit wonder, it was probably here to stay. Now I have had my ups and downs, I have gotten to the point of quitting for good, but I haven't and now there are so many options for making money just by writing, Hive being about the best. Yes, i have gotten out of a few financial problems through crypto blogging. I think this is the easiest, cheapest way of actually making something from the internet. i don't intend to become a millionaire, but I know it is a good feeling to have some crypto backing you on several sites. By the way right now I am lopw on crypto but I intend to fix that this year.

I was on the same path you were. And it took me a long time to realize and learn that you have to set yourself apart in order to be successful on the internet. It's not easy but it can be done with being scammed or scamming anyone else.
