Today, I'll keep this contest brief as I share my Web3 experience and my journey as a crypto enthusiast in the world of blogging as a means to celebrate my Birthday 😊😊.
How It All Began
It began when I embarked on a journey to comprehend the seven-letter term "Bitcoin." Fresh from a physics lab session, I overheard my friends engaged in a lively conversation about a unique digital currency valued at over $10,000. My curiosity was piqued as I pondered how an intangible asset like this could command such a substantial worth.
During the discussion, some individuals firmly believed that such technology could never be feasible. They questioned the rationale behind conducting transactions with unseen or digital currencies when physical money was readily available. Who would willingly exchange their tangible assets for something uncertain?
My bewilderment regarding this digital coin, the topic of everyone's conversation, drove me to turn to the Internet, specifically Google, in search of answers to the question, "What is Bitcoin?"
I encountered various search results on Google when I posted the question, but regrettably, none provided a satisfactory explanation of how Bitcoin works. It wasn't until I stumbled upon a Steemit article about Bitcoin through the Google search engine that I finally began to understand its workings.
The Redirection To Steemit
Intrigued by my curiosity about Bitcoin, I followed Google's suggestion and clicked on the Steemit link. To my delight, I found an informative post on Steemit that explained the intricacies of Bitcoin.
As I scrolled through the post, I couldn't help but notice a dollar symbol attached to the content, indicating it was valued at around $70 or so. Furthermore, I observed that everyone in the post's comment section had received a few bucks as tips for their comments. This piqued my interest in how Steemit functions, especially as an undergraduate student in need of funds. Luckily, I possessed digital skills like content writing and graphic design using Canva.
I began to envision the possibility of earning substantial rewards online through Steemit by producing high-quality content, unaware of the challenges that lay ahead. In 2018, I took the plunge and signed up for Steemit. However, it proved to be quite challenging to earn significant rewards initially, possibly due to the limited visibility of my blog, my low Steem Power, or my relatively low reputation score (25).
It was within the Steemit community that I found supportive friends who greatly facilitated my journey. They offered guidance, directed me to the right communities, and advised me on the essential hashtags to use for specific posts. I am eternally grateful to individuals like @crypto.piotr, @samest, @curie, @dobartim, and, most notably, the @project.hope community for their invaluable support and impact on my Steemit blogging career.
The Steemit - Hive Saga
As I continued my journey as a content writer and crypto enthusiast on the Steemit blockchain, a significant event unfolded in 2020 known as the Hive vs. Steemit Saga. This controversy ultimately resulted in the creation of Hive as a separate blockchain through a hardfork of Steemit. Hive brought along additional Web3 features and developments to enhance the Hive community.
One notable aspect of this transition was that users who held Steemit accounts found themselves automatically having Hive accounts created for them. Moreover, their Steem Power (SP) was converted into Hive Power (HP) in the process, marking a pivotal moment in the evolution of these blockchain platforms.
Thanks To Decentralization (Web3)
It's truly remarkable how decentralized social media platform like Hive and @Leofinance provided me with the opportunity to delve deeper into the world of cryptocurrency, Web3, and blockchain technology. They not only expanded my knowledge but also allowed me to become a more active contributor to the Web3 and cryptocurrency ecosystem.
