Its week 36 (09/09/23) of my savings focus for 2023 with the Saturday Savers Club which I think is a great Hive community initiative run by @shanibeer writing as @sally-saver on the @eddie-earner account.
My focus for the rest of the year is:
- My annual HP target of 10K HP,
- HBD:HIVE trading,
- @eds-vote 2k HP delegation and my annual EDS target of 100.

Weekly commentary
Well its been a bit of a crazy week. I decided to start releasing HIVE from my HIVE:HBD trading fund. With the current low price of HIVE, I had a number of trading pots waiting for much higher HIVE prices (above $0.50) that I dont think are going to happen any time soon. So in other words, I had HIVE sitting doing nothing. So I decided to move everything that was waiting for a price of over $0.50 into HP, so that atleast it is earning curation rewards. Long term this is not a problem for my HIVE:HBD plan, as I'll actually keep it in HP until the price goes above $1 (meaning I'll have made even more from it) and then buy into HBD with it. The upshot of all of this was that I had a very nice overall HP increase of +996 HP this week (of which some also did come from post payouts),
This has helped me towards a number of goals and other aspects:
- I have now broken the 7K HP barrier, and am well on the way towards 8K, and hitting 10K by the end of the year sort of becomes feasible again (although still tough),
- I can now delegate the rest of the HP I wanted to delegate to @eds-vote, to hit a total of 2K delegated, which will give me a nice weekly passive gain in EDS to help towards my EDS goal,
- I can finish off another delegation to @qurator - I wanted to have 100 HP delegated to that account, and had fallen a little short. I think its a good place to delegate as it supports the community through curation/up votes, and it also pays out 80% of curation funds back to delegators, daily in HIVE. There are a number of other accounts like that this that I have wanted to support, because they support the community (and me because I get occasional nice upvotes from them), so I will be focusing on those over the coming months, now that I'm able to complete my @eds-vote delegation target,
- I've heard of a new project coming out this monday, Hive Power Ventures, which is bringing out a new token called $PWR which has the main purpose of accumulating hive power. Its similar to some of the other SPinvest tokens in its model, which I really like and in fact I heard about it in one of the SPinvest posts, as they will be investing into it. You can gain it by delegating HP to it, so I'm going to delegate 250 to it when it comes out on monday and see how it does. Its a slow burner of a project as the full benefits wont kick in for a few years, but it fits my longer term plans well, so I thought I'd give it a try,
My HP total is now 7786 HP. This time last year I had 1680, so have gained 6106 in the year,
I need a further 2214 HP to hit my 10K target, which at 16 weeks to go requires 137 HP per week (down 50 per week !!). This makes my year end target achievable, although thats still a pretty tough number to hit each week,
I added another 19 HP to my delegation to @eds-vote to help with my annual EDS target. I now have 1841 HP delegated which is really helping my weekly EDS income (1.57 EDS this week from the delegation alone). However, as above, I will be able to complete this delegation target this week, and then let that do its job over time to give me a nice small but steady weekly increase in EDS, which will in turn give me a nice weekly payout in HIVE,
I gained +1.93 EDS this week. Even with my increased delegation to @eds-vote, I dont think I will hit my year end target of 100 EDS, but I'll come close, and that will be good enough. However, at the time of writing, I was just looking at EDS on hive-engine, and someone put in an order for some EDS at very high prices (5 HIVE each), so I couldnt resist and I filled the order selling 2.99 EDS. I simply plan to buy those back at the usual selling price which is closer to 1.7 HIVE each. I doubt EDS could stay at the 5 HIVE mark at the moment, its surely just a small blip, but I'd be very happy if it did,
I gained +1.584 DAB and +1.093 DBOND from DAB and DBOND drips this week. I still think this is a great project and will be buying some more DBOND when the second batch goes on sale later in September,
HBD:HIVE trading - I had zero trades this week, as there was nothing really in my price range with the price of HIVE being so low.
Plan for the coming week
- To continue to make sure I post daily to ensure daily HBD and HIVE author rewards,
- To be active in HIVE Blog curation to help with HIVE curation rewards,
- To continue to increase undelegated HIVE in order to improve HIVE curation rewards,
- HBD:HIVE Trading - The price is currently too low for my trading range, so am unlikely to see much trading in the coming weeks,
- This weeks delegation of a portion of my weekly HP income will be going to @eds-vote, @quarator and @empo.voter as mentioned above. That will complete delegation targets for all 3 of those, and then going forward I'll be switching to supporting other community curation accounts. I will also be lowering my weekly delegation amount to 20% of my weekly HP income, as I seriously need to work on improving my own curation rewards and upvote value as those are fairly low due to the amount of delegations I currently have in place,
- With the next batch sale of DBOND coming up on the 17th of September, I'll be looking to see what I can scrape together in order to buy more DBOND in that. I wont be able to buy as much as I have done in the previous sales, but I will definitely pick up something,
- I will be selling HBD payouts from posts for HIVE in order to power up more towards my annual HP target, especially while the price of HIVE is so low - its making quite a difference to that target at the moment.
In summary, its been a week of positive change. I've shaken things up in response to current conditions and opportunities, noting that I think its important to move and change plans when you have to. This has also made my year end 10K HP goal more achievable, so that was also a good move !

For converting to FIAT which pair do you use? I have been under addiction of the BUSD due to binance but now that coin is down.I need to choose between the USDC and the usdt. I dont convert to FIAT very often at all, but when I have I've used USDT. I agree with you, 2023 has been a year of low prices, but I really am in accumulation mode, so I'm fairly happy with it - I've been able to pick up more crypto units as a result. If 2024 then improves, it will be great !

I saw you had a big bump in HP that is huge so well done. I will be honest, I was surprised as I thought you would be buying a big wallop of DBOND.
Regarding the HIVE/HBD trading you have been doing, I was wondering what would happen, I am sure quite a while ago you had said you stop trading if below 0.36. Well like you say we are on a low price and I don't see Hive getting back to even 0.36 soon let alone 0.50. If I'm right it won't be till 2025, I am with you, it is all about gaining what we can in the meantime!

Many thanks. I already have a decent amount of DBOND, and pushed the boat out on the last two sales. I think its a pretty good project and I've been happy with the returns so far, but if I keep spending there I will miss my year end HP target, and I dont have the resources to hit both. So it will be a minor purchase on DBOND, which is still good, while I focus on HP. We'll see how it goes !
