A few days ago, the minister of productive development in my country announced an agreement with a national Fintech called [Ualá] (https://www.uala.com.ar/) in order to grant credits for productive investment to small and medium-sized companies. A remarkable novelty, unthinkable if you will, until not long ago. At this point, I must clarify that the relationship of this company with cryptocurrencies is only tangential and not the basis of its services and operations.

However, the joy at this news that could take companies dedicated to finance outside the traditional banking systems to another level was quickly neutralized by the position of the banking union, they were categorically opposed to the agreement despite the fact that this firm has acquired al last January to the Mexican bank ABC Capital.

The Argentine banking association, through its general secretary, considered that this national economic decision should not be implemented on an application of a totally informal company (SIC) that operates outside the national banking system, it should be channeled through the public banking, he added.

Ualá is considered the 10th. Unicorn of Argentina offers different services such as collections and payments, credits, investments, and personal financial management through the use of an application that can be used from its website or from the telephone and has a prepaid MasterCard card to use in stores. Their operations cover practically all of Latin America and they have expansion plans in an advanced state.

In this protest of the guild, one can once again observe the internal dispute within the government, which is going through an enormous economic and political crisis, since the alliance between orthodox Peronists and the Kirchnerists is creaking under the devastating effects of inflation and the lack of currency. The minister of productive development belongs to the wing of the unconditional supporters of Alberto Fernández, president of the republic, while the secretary of the banking union answers to vice president Cristina Kirchner and is a national deputy for that bloc.

For now, the agreement advances, until when? It is not known, everything will depend on what happens in the coming months, the general elections are approaching and the bastions of power are defending themselves tooth and nail, Ualá seems to be one more of the ducks at the wedding.
