Why AI is crucial for growth in businesses

When we can do things faster, we significantly cut costs.

Generally, a lot of people worry that fast means less quality and for the right reasons.

Fast in fashion for instance, just means low quality and high waste.

It's only expected that when people look at fast fashion and see what it means for quality when we increase production quickly, that AI will get a lot of hate for enabling fast production in numerous fields.

Yet, a lot of people are wrong. The comparison generally ignores one thing:

The process.

For fast fashion, what's the process of achieving higher production?

Two things are involved, low quality materials and cheap labor.

This means that kicking out quality is inherent, it is the design.

This is not true for AI.

AI systems are constantly being optimized to provide more value, not less.

When you ask a generative AI to write a poem, it doesn't intentionally throw some slop at you, it follows the given prompt and the capacity of the model. In most cases, even when the prompt is low effort or straight up bad, the generated responses are often great.

This is because it's in their programming to be valuable and helpful. It is not designed to produce something low-value.

AI in business: why it is crucial for growth

Growth in modern business means scaling value output (which brings revenue and profits) without increasing costs. This will only be possible for future businesses that are AI-integrated.

Most people miss what's most valuable about having AI tools such as Generative AI apps.

Imagine you have 30 emails to go through in the morning hours of resuming work, this is outside everything else you have to do. Each email is at least 450 words long, which means over 13,500 words to read, roughly 90 minutes+ time costs, starring at you.

You have to send out a response email for every one of them, how long will it take to understand each of these emails fully, draft replies, edit for errors, edit for tone alignment, etc?

Several hours, that's how long.

With AI, the time cost will be much less.

With simple prompts such as "extract the key points in this email" one can cut through the noise and have cleanly layed out summaries that fast-paces decision-making.

Similarly, with simple prompts, drafting responses with the necessary data to match the intended tone for each email is much easier.

What AI does is help us reduce our cognitive load so we can focus on the details that matters and make the crucial decisions. We don't need to work long hours trying to find meaning of data when a machine can do that in milliseconds.

It isn't about replacing our brains, it is about helping us see things more clearly in much less time.

But of course, many will try to mass produce things without applied human creativity using AI, but things like this can only last and sell so long. Eventually, most people will grow to identify them, and what gets to generate significant sales will be things with unique human contribution.
