Texas lawmakers are poised to ban minors from social media

The proposal would prohibit #minors from creating accounts on social media sites and require ALL users to verify their #ages. Companies would have to comply with the #ban by April 2026. Under this bill, any website that allows users to curate and create content is considered a social media website and cut off from minors.

This ban would be the strictest US regulation of the social media industry. Florida is the only other state with a ban on social media, but it’s only for minors under 14.

#Teenagers pointed out to lawmakers that most of their lives and careers are intertwined with social media, whether it’s the 17-year-old TikToker making makeup videos or the five-star athlete posting highlight videos on Twitter and YouTube in hopes that coaches see them.

The Texas government needs to stop acting like a bunch of communists and stop trying to control private businesses! Period! Government overreach is the world's biggest problem! We have to stop putting these muppets into power!

100%!

The next step in that direction will be the ban of VPN's, Tor and any other privacy fostering infrastructure. I don't see states like Texas or Florida being so different from New York or California.

That's because all the communists from New York and California have infiltrated Texas and Florida and ruined them. Those are things they will never be able to enforce.
