The ASEAN Blockchain Consortium (ABC) was officially formed by the Indonesian Blockchain Association (ABI), the Singapore Blockchain Association (BAS), the Philippine Distributed Ledger Technology Association (DLTAP), the Labuan International Business and Finance Center (Labuan IBFC), the Thai Digital Asset Operators Trade Association ( TDO) and Blockchain Australia (BA) with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Thursday (22/4).
ABC was formed to foster and strengthen relationships across borders in promoting blockchain technology. The digital signing event is powered by Dedoco, a blockchain-based digital signing platform.
The event also marked the first collaboration between blockchain organizations across ASEAN and Australia to promote blockchain education, share knowledge on digital asset development, and promote the adoption of blockchain technology across ASEAN and Australia.
This memorandum of understanding was signed at a virtual event organized by BAS, Wednesday (21/4) and witnessed by Senior Advisor to the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of Indonesia Edi Prio Pambudi, Chief FinTech Officer of the Monetary Authority of Singapore Sopnendu Mohanty, as well as several other officials and chairmen of associations from countries in ASEAN.
"Digital connectivity is urgent during the pandemic to keep business going. Then, this is an opportunity for blockchain to reimagine digital connectivity with advanced adaptations," said Edi in a release received by Kontan, Thursday (21/4).
The signing of this MOU has the same goals and objectives, namely to serve the public interest in the field of blockchain technology. This MOU also aims to further enhance cooperation among the six organizations to take the industry to a higher level, through their contribution to the development of the blockchain industry and digital assets.
