Upon finding the location of this country, we came to found that this country is located in the South Caucasus region. It is famous for it's diverse landscapes, cultural heritage and oil reserves. But due to the significant importance of Gold, they have decided built there interest in making the gold as their significant part of their reserves.
According to the research conducted by World Gold Council, As of December 2021, Azerbaijan's has Gold reserves Approximately 30.2 tons. They were holding 1.2 tons in gold since 2010 and this 30.2 tons of Gold Shows Huge increase increase in their Gold reserves.
The main reason of this increase in their Gold reserves is their Economic Diversification Efforts. The country's economy has traditionally been heavily reliant on oil and gas exports, but the government has been working to reduce its dependence on these commodities. Gold is seen as a reliable investment and a hedge against inflation, making it an attractive option for diversifying the country's wealth.
Azerbaijan is not only increasing their investment Gold, their Domestic gold production has also been increased. You may find several Large-scale Gold mines, which includes the Asian Mining's Gedabek mine, this gold mine is the country's biggest gold mine at the time of writing. The government is doing everything in their hands to make policies to encourage Small Scale Gold mining, which will definitely contribute in the growth of the country's reserves.
These Gold reserves are playing two important parts in the Country's Economy, One is they are diversifying their investment and holdings, others is that having Gold strengthen their currency in the international market. The country's central bank, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, has been actively increasing its gold holdings to boost the value of the Azerbaijani manat.
Furthermore, Azerbaijan's gold reserves have also contributed to the country's international standing. The World Gold Council's data shows that Azerbaijan is ranked 56th globally in terms of gold reserves. This puts it ahead of several other countries in the region, including Georgia and Armenia.
