Hi, Hiveans!

Right now it is actually snowing in Oslo, so good time to be inside and read and reflect.

$BDG has perhaps one of the worst reputation in the cryptosphere, where reputation is almost everything.
The shittiest of all shitcoins.

$BDG was the result of an ICO in 2017 where I was persuaded to invest. After the ICO, the token tanked 99,9%, and the project was seen as "scam".

LONG ROAD TO ICO PRICE

Scam is not a word that should be used lightly, and it is difficult to see if it really was a scam. It has been at all times possible to pay with $BDG on https://www.bitdegree.org/ and get a decent discount, but the promised token integration was not implemented, and you could not earn crypto while taking courses. Ethically it is very questionable if they used the ICO just to fund the platform.

Over 150 BitDegree Courses — on the House!

Most of the courses our outside my fields of interest, That being sad, the platform is seen as succesful, with good reviews.

Blockchain-based education is one of the most potent usecases, but it could just be that we are still somewhat early. The pandemic has also make millions finding other ways to learn skills and monitize their talents.

When I have contacted the team about why the token has failed, their answer is that the "market decide". This is not an acceptable answer perhaps, but I still see some value in Bitdegree that I believe that blockchain education will take of, and that Bitdegree is pioneers in that regard.

When they have done almost everything else correct, I believe there is the opportunity that they will do more efforts to implement the token if the price increases. Which I believe it could. They also need to do that to not loose their credibility.

I feel sympathetic towards those that do not wish to invest given their arrogant and non-chalant attitue towards their funders (ICO participants).

But, the market cap is very low. I bought lots of tokens in the 0,3 mill range. There is also the possiblity that new crypto investors will not know the history and view the project more optimistically. We have seen that with Kin and CargoX and others that have taken of recently. Both projects have token integration though so they are perhaps not comparable. We all know the cyclical nature of crypto, and that many coins often seem to reach former all time highs.

This is of course not trading advice.

Elearning and blockchain in eduaction is going to be huge!

Hive with its proof of brain should also be an excellent choice for launching and education and learning platform.
Perhaps that it what can make it realize its true potential?

I doubt #proofofrain is where Instructors should talk about their courses in Hive. They should have a Hive space for using web 3.0 tools for teaching.
As for BitDegree...I wanted to publish a few of my premium courses there. But when I've seen Alun Hill in there, I knew what is going on and gave up on that idea INSTANTLY.
Back in 2014, that guy was making huge money laundering on Udemy with no shame. He was even one of the hidden shareholders of Udemy back then. I can always support this with proof. Eventually, he left the place.
He wouldn't stay on BitDegree for $3 per course. This is how much one of his courses was sold for.
Blockchain elearning still needs quality control, ethics, methodology...LinkedIn fucked that up already for their eLearning feature and Bitdegree rarely sends a newsletter. I am subscribed to them...
There's much more to be said...
I'm voting for this article because it's a good discussion starting point for blockchain eLearning.

Good input. Yes, it was meant as a discussion starting point:)

A great one! I'll be sharing it on Twitter now for other Hive ppl to see it!

My position on the higher education has been for the past 5 years - it is a dying dinosaur. I have always felt that independent certifications of knowledge would be the future. We already have old school models in insurance sales, investment, and accounting. None of these should require traditional 40k a year school.

As an employer, I would much rather see proof of knowledge, than a degree knowing how easy some can be to get, and knowing people that graduated with me that I couldn't believe managed to pass.

Block chain would be a great use to store credentials and show proof of knowledge - it will be interesting to see if the platform gets more use, or a competitor figures out the model first.

Agreed. People will not pay 40K a year for legacy education when the employers start valuing independent elearning and expertise in blockchain technology: Critical knowledge to have in a few years. Hopefully, Hive in some form can play a role here. I enrolled in the "Academy" here a few years ago. COVID-19 will of course facilitate this inevitable change.

Hive and especially Leofinance should have a paid newsletter with the knowledge and valuable information it's being shared around here every day.

It would be so practical, @acesontop!

I wrote quite a few proposal posts about that, but nothing yet.

Can you give me their links when you have time?
I want to look into them and analyze what we can do here.

I don't remember the titles unfortunately...

I'll make a short research at some point. Hugs!
