RE: Defying disenfranchisement

I think your feelings and cautionary approach are completely normal and to be expected from a husband and father. Also, if there is no real NEED or dire situation which requires correction, then there really isn't any sense in blowing investments which will most likely stand you in strong stead later... but, just be sure to maintain the balance of discerning that fact. It is also just as easy to get caught and then stuck in a mode of, well... greed, I suppose is the word. Never utilizing any of it for its ultimate intent and hoarding it until your dying day. I know many who have done this and for what. Like my eldest brother Said to me the other day... if we cannot make good use of what we have grown at some point, being able to witness the joy it brings to our family, then there really is no point to any of it at all, because we cannot take it with us when we die.

Great post.
Happy Sunday & Valentines
Good luck with the moving today!

This is what I really want to avoid, especially if it affects negatively on my family. The balance is hard to find, but I hope I am slowly learning that once I get to a certain point, I will be able to use some without losing it all.

Like your brother - I hope to see the joy in the faces of my family, rather than having to suffer a future they constantly feel they don't have enough to create opportunity.

Precisely - and "creating opportunity" is not exactly a walk in the park in this day and age.
