Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. We had a 3 star brawl battle last round but I forgot to check back in on the rankings before the next brawl preparations started. Apparently, we will be alternating 3 star and 2 star brawls for a while.
Brawl fights
There were 3 that I won and 2 that I lost, and 2 that I won due to surrender. So I included an idea of what the match was below along with a few thoughts about it.
You can find the first match here. I lost this match and the scattershot really hurt me. I wasn't able to focus on damage against my opponent and I missed a few attacks as well. Overall, I still think it was fairly close but the speed difference was what killed me.
You can find the second match here. I lost this match due to that double marytr Katrelba Gobson. That damage is just way too powerful and I couldn't kill my opponent fast enough.
You can find the third match here. I won this match due to my use of magic monsters. In addition, my summoner increased my magic damage and I was able to finish off my opponent before he could finish me off despite the speed difference.
You can find the fourth match here. I won this match and using cleanse worked out for me. I was a bit worried due to the damage my opponent had but I won due to the increased speed on my cards.
You can find the fifth match here. I won this match by taking advantage of the bloodlust monster with opportunity on my side. I was able to make quick work of his lower health cards and my idea to use a shield tank in the front worked out quite well.
Brawl Result
I choose the gold foil modern brawl and I got 5 wins and 2 losses. It was a great brawl and I won half of my matches. My rewards for the brawl were 2,556 merits and 25.015 SPS in the 3 star category. I forgot to visit the guild and take a closer view of my rewards so I am guessing that we placed fairly low on the list because I read in the guild chat that there were 4 people who did not submit their fights. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. At the same time, my usual spot is now silver rated so my cards aren't close to being maxed. I did well this time around despite the lower leveled cards but I don't know if that will hold up.
Conclusion
My performance was great this time around. I am not sure where we placed but we earned less than being in the 2 star category so I think we placed like 6th or 7th place. I think brawls are a great way of earning SPS and merits for the number of battles you participate in. So I think it is worthwhile for people to participate in these brawls. My current brawls are in the two star or three star category.

Your strategies were pretty good, but I think you need some gold cards, especially those with the marytr ability. Great performance, congratulations.
Yes, but there is only so many funds to go around. My focus is more on ranked battles with the occasional brawls with whatever left.
You had a great performance, I like it when my opponents surrender it just gives that extra point that is needed.

I also like the surrenders but they tend to be quite rare. I was expecting to be crushed in the 3 star tier brawls but I did better than expected.
