From what little I know about the Lightning Network, which is mostly from @brianoflondon's posts and videos about @podping, it is good for very small transfers.
Task knows a great deal more about how Twitter®'s foray into crypto tipping would work out. I will defer to his expertise in this realm as I do not have much knowledge about the Lightning Network and Bitcoin (BTC) in general.
Yeah, if they use Lightning then people can reduce the fees and transaction time to transfer their BTC. Lightning had initially limited 'channel' size to a maximum of 0.1677 BTC. I am not sure if this restriction is removed or not.
Pretty sure nobody will use Twitter for making heavy transactions.
Also, the volatility of BTC is a hindrance. What if I tipped you some Satoshis and the next day they are up 20% or 30% 😂
