It looks like you have a solid strategy but I am rethinking about getting in on the airdrop or not. I don't really have many cards leveled up and my collection points doesn't really give me much chance at getting any card at all. My highest CP that I have on a single card is 500.

Yes I think having high CP cards is important because Mage wagons cost $2 and more CP and less wagons is a good strategy
