Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game and there are some interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. One thing to note about brawls is that there is a home advantage to matches. So even when there is a draw, the winner is decided based on that. In the most recent brawl, I had one of those draws and it lead to my win.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The ruleset this time is Wands Out, Equalizer and Noxious Fumes. This means that only magic monsters can be used and they also start off poisoned and with the same health. There are 33 mana available and I am left with the choice of every splinter except for dragon.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Thaddius Brood | 4 | Summoner | -1 Health and Magic |
Djinn Muirat | 9 | 1st | Void Armor |
Venari Bonesmith | 4 | 2nd | Life Leech |
Witch of Warwick | 5 | 3rd | Life Leech and Bloodlust |
Total Mana: | 22 |
I used Thaddius Brood as my summoner because it reduces the health and magic of my opponent. In this match where only magic monsters can be used, its benefits are quite high. My lineup starts off with a void armor monsters to delay my opponent because it has to go through my armor first. After that are two life leech monsters and one of them also has bloodlust. I don't have too many gold foil cards available so I am unable to take advantage of the rest of the mana that I have available.
Round 1
Looking at the difference between the lineup, I think it's an even match. My opponent also has two life leech monsters and we had similar ideas. However, I went with a void armor up front while my opponent decided to spread out his damage more with more support abilities such as snipe and slow.
Round 3
I skipped forward to round 3 because not much happened before it. Both me and my opponent have lost a monster so far and it still looks quite even on both sides. The poison is slowly destroying the backline and that is working more to my advantage due to the number of monsters my opponent has.
Round 4
The poison will kill off my opponent's first two monsters and both of our Warwick's won't be able to kill each other. So the poison will end this match in a draw.
As expected, this ended in a draw but since my guild was the host, I won the match.
Conclusion
The battle this time did go exactly as I expected. I wasn't expecting to win because I didn't have that many magic monsters but my summoner and the poison helped me out. It ended up being a draw but the home advantage worked out for me. The void armor and life leech worked out well enough to delay the fight and win the match.
