Well it's been a couple of weeks now since my big re-balancing. Today was a rough day, but I was right to expect that the numbers would look much more impressive with the full $1M invested in the paper account.

The bulk of my pics are doing well so far.

There are just a couple of minor losers at the bottom of my list.

As for why I chose these stocks. The bulk of what I actually invest is in index funds, like whenever I get paid a certain percentage goes towards an S&P 500 index fund in my 401k account. I'm certainly not the only one with those type of investing practices. The larger part of that money goes into trillion dollar companies like the magnificent 7. Those companies are subject to much bigger news cycles than the stocks on my list and much bigger swings in price for good or ill. These stocks on my list are all in the S&P 500, so pretty much too big to fail. They keep getting a little piece of those retirement dollars, but everyday investors haven't all heard of Dow, Mohawk, Smurfit and Mosaic. Institutional investors have heard of these companies and they know that if they bought up all of the Mosaic Company they could sell off the pieces for a little more than their cost and they would know how to do it. The Margins are thin, but the price doesn't have much room to fall because then the margins would quickly become worthwhile for something like that.
Nobody is big enough to buy out Nvidia, but Berkshire Hathaway could afford to buy any of these companies outright with cash on hand. They already own a significant chunk of Kraft Heinz. It will be exciting to see what moves they make when Buffett moves over next month.
This post shows some of the things that I'm thinking about and experimenting with in a paper trading account. THIS IS NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE.
