As my follower count and income from writing about bitcoin has increased; so too has the amount of questions I receive from users also asking how they can begin writing articles to buy more bitcoin. I will say this until the end of time; I am able to do this; then anyone else definitely can as well. And let me be upfront with you; I am still relatively new to this and nowhere being successful in my mind, but I am begging to see what works and what doesn't.

And that is what this article will be all about. It might not give you the exact step by step guide for how to be successful writing about bitcoin, ethereum or any other cryptocurrency. But it will give you general tips for things that will help you, and also things to avoid that will not help you as well. We are all in the cryptocurrency market to hopefully better our lifestyle in some way or another, and I would be honored if this could help even just one person out there.

So if you love bitcoin, and find yourself wanting to put in some extra work to gain some more; this article is for you.

So let's talk about how to make some money writing about bitcoin!

1) Talk About what you're Passionate About

For me, clearly it is bitcoin. The great thing that comes with writing about things that you're interested is that you're passion and energy will come through on the page and be felt by the readers. Not only that, but generally most people are more knowledgeable about the things that they are passionate about. So it of course makes more sense to write about what you know, and avoid the things that you don't know. For this very reason most of my articles tend to either deal with bitcoin, ethereum, or building a passive income of some sort. Those are the things that I am most passionate about. You'll never see me writing about DeFi farming or the likes of that.

Also I have found that when you do write about the things that you enjoy; it ends up more fun to do and the words flow more easily. So please don't try to be someone else that you're not. Be yourself, find your own niche and success will hopefully follow after that.

2) Quality of Content

I am definitely not claiming that my posts are of the highest quality, but I do take a lot of pride in my posts and work hard on them. Readers will quickly be able to see the difference between a person trying to make a quick crypto tip, compared to a person that puts a lot of effort in the post. One of those two people will be successful and I'm sure you can guess which one it is. My personal rule of thumb is that I will never, ever give a writer a tip if their articles are only 1 or 2 paragraphs long, or if their list of referral links are longer than their actual post. This also means that you shouldn't write exactly what other people are writing as well. Just like #1, find something that you are interested in and go from there.

Remember that first impression is vitally important. If your post looks like junk, they will not click on it. Here are a few things that can help shape up the image of your post.

  1. Write an attention grabbing title. 2) Choose and edit a thumbnail picture that is both visually appealing and also is related to your post. 3) Pay attention to your grammar and correct spelling errors. 4) Write an article that is accurate and also of decent length. 5) Show your personality throughout the article while keeping it professional. 6) Ask questions at the end of your article to help with engagement.

If you do all of those things, you will already be ahead of most people in-terms of quality.

3) Consistency

When you are just starting out on a platform; that will be the most difficult time to make any substantial amount of money. You have to gain a follower-base and that takes time. The best way to do this is by writing high-quality content, but also doing it consistently. If you are only writing one time a month that will not be enough to grow your follower base, and as a result, grow your earnings. I started blogging about bitcoin just about a year ago and at the beginning this was something I struggled with. I began very excited, wrote 2 articles and then they ended up not being successful. I had almost given up, but thankfully I didn't. I stopped caring about the earnings began to care more about the things that I could control; such as writing consistently. I began writing just once a week, and then bumped it up to 2 times a week. But the FOMO of the bull market had me wanting to maximize my earnings for even more bitcoin and so I am now writing 4 times a week. Once I began writing more often; that is when my follower numbers finally began to rise at a fast rate.

4) Avoid Spamming

I've briefly talked about this above, but you should really try to avoid spamming. My definition of spamming as a poster is having far too many referral links in your post. If your referral link list is longer than your actual article, then you definitely have too many of them. Now don't get me wrong, having 1 or 2 referral links in your post is okay, and I use them as well. Just be tasteful about it. I have seen many times where a person uses too many and turns off the reader.

Remember; you can only make a first impression one time, and people will remember it forever.

5) Spread Your Content

For quite a long time I was only using one platform to post articles as an author and I felt that the rewards didn't equal up to the amount of work that I had put into it. But after I began researching other opportunities and also posting there is when my earnings really began to increase. While they aren't extremely large yet, but they have turned into a nice side income that I can invest into bitcoin. There are several places to look into such as; Publish0x, Read.cash, Hive, Uptrennd, Substack and more. So don't sell yourself short by not looking into these opportunities.

6) Love the Industry / Keep Up to Date on News & Developments

This is kind of related to writing about what you are passionate about. But if you are wanting to write about bitcoin, ethereum or any other cryptocurrency; then you should definitely keep up to date on the latest news. This will help to give you ideas for articles to write, be more accurate about what you're writing, and also become more knowledgeable. Personally, I have a never-ending thirst to learn as much as I can about this industry and hope any other writer is the same way. While if you are writing about the banking industry, perhaps you wouldn't need to keep up to date too much, because the industry is quite stagnant.

But the cryptocurrency changes at an electrifying pace. It is quite scary how much can happen in this industry in one week, and you should keep up to date on most of it. The more knowledge you have, the more successful you will be.

7) Write Evergreen Content

I went through a stage where I was writing articles about the latest news stories in the cryptocurrency market. I have to admit that they did not perform up to my satisfaction. You have to realize that when there is a big new story, there will probably be at least 20 other people writing the same type of post at the same time. There isn't enough space on the main page for all of them to be featured, and within a day or two it will be old news; meaning that no one will want to read about it any longer.

I have had much more success writing about the things that I enjoy such as; bitcoin's future, staking ethereum, making a passive crypto income, price potential and more. It was when I stopped writing news posts, when I became more successful.

While this is by no means the ultimate guide that will teach you how to be a successful writer on these cryptocurrency blogging platforms. I do think it could give you a head-start and help you a lot.

So what things have worked for you as a bitcoin blogger?! And what things haven't worked for you as well!?

I like #7 - I recently read in one of the LEO updates that they will be looking into some sort of function that will allow writers to earn on evergreen content. I like being able to read articles that are "old" by the blockchain standards, but still very relevant.

As far as #2 - I would say that longer is not necessarily better. Many of the posts I read can be cut in half and still have the same relevant information.

Very nicely written. I'm just getting started again after leaving the space for a while in the bear market. Too much negative energy for me. Ha! Anyway, I really enjoyed your article. You bring up a lot of great points. Especially the one about writing what you're passionate about. It certainly does make it easier. I also think you need to be genuine in what you're writing and that shines through a lot easier if you care about the topic. You gave me some good ideas. Thank you!

Is there any way to "favorite" an article so I can find it again later. I'm going to follow you so I can always find it that way but....just wondering if you know.

I have been in steemit for quite some times, but not getting much of earning. Thank you for your tip. I am now going to spread my content not just in one place. But there are still many things that i need to learn and develop. Because English is not my first language, maybe doing a post with a good grammatical structure will not be a strong point for me. all the best
