I admit it....I'm not the greatest affiliate marketer on the planet!
Mostly because, a lot of the crap the experts have been pushing down people's throats over the years to me has been....Just that, crap!
I don't follow their script when it comes to building businesses online...
At the end of the day, they are trying to separate you from your money and make you feel like a star when you do.
One of the metrics they have swore by for years is that, the most important number in email marketing is....Open rates!
O.K., I get it. That's the sign of a healthy membership, reader base etc....I agree with that.
However what good is 100000 opens if no one clicks on your emails?
Tonight I make the case for the importance of not only click through rates, but the conversion rates that comes from that CTR!
Yes, ListNerds has a lower than normal open rate but extremely high CTR, so obviously we need to improve the opens...However, does this change the importance of which metric we should value the most?
Or are all of them the same?

some links are interesting, other looks like scam or ponzi shemes,
and some are gem posts that I would have missed without Listnerd 👀

Slowly (I hope lol) the content in ListNerds will get away from those schemes and suspect sites and more Hive based content.
The listnerd results are impressive. The most important rate is the conversion rate, in my opinion. The opening rate is low because the emails are not sent, that is a success. This causes that there are users who forget it by not entering the application. But that also makes loyal users click on almost all emails, which is why the click rate is so good.
It happens in all applications and websites in the world, they are zombie users. I am a zombie user of Facebook, I will enter like 5 or 6 times a year but surely Facebook counts me as one of its billions of users.
Yeah I get the argument for open rates, and I agree with them to an extent but like you said...Conversions are what matters.
I tried last night and this morning to see if the video would load but 3speak just isn't buffering the entire video (stops after 2 and a half minutes).
So I will just go in on the description and my listnerds results so far. I think the clicks are quite good but whether or not I send out 800 or 1k, I seem to get the same open rate. So I think the changes Blaine did are good but how many people to send to is the best question for a free user.

When I see how internet marketing is developping, I believe that the only metrics that will matter soon is: while my e-mails arrive or be blocked. In this respect Listnerds is a league above because it doesn't rely on any external party or on the decisions of the google overlord :-)
That's the big thing a lot of people seem to forget, the fact that it's harder than ever to get delivered....Is going to kill open rates.
I agree with @maddogmike that conversions are the most important. It is called a funnel for a reason. Lots of opens get you more clicks which leads to conversions. Great shoe @jongolson.
Yeah and if you make sure the back end of your funnel is on point, you will get great results!
I will take CTR. Just imagine keeping the CTR as the open rate increases. Mind blowing 🤯.

I have not been sure what kind of metrics my reading provides for ListNerds results. I have been trying to only click on, and then open, stuff I think I really would like to learn about. I thought that would provide the highest fidelity data for Mailers. Should I be opening and clicking on everything? I like being part of ListNers and just want to do my part to help! :)
It's really up to you. I mean, the more emails you verify, the more of the rewards you will share every day. So while you dont need to click on everything, I'd pick and choose the messages that interest you the most :)

I believe the most important metric is conversion rate but you can't get conversions without opens and clicks. Also I think that conversions falls more on the advertiser then the site owner. If you're not getting conversions and you're getting a good open rate and click through rate then it's time to reconsider what you are showing.
That is a really good point, it does come down to what you are promoting and how.
I have the same feeling about CTR. I just click the links to get some MAIL and close them before they even load (except for blogposts). Does this give them any money? Because I'm surely not buying anything.
Sadly most of the stuff promoted is horrible.
The Hive blog posts are shining right now and I am hoping to attract more diverse content on the platform. Less 'get rich quick' schemes lol
