We spoke about this topic a lot in the past few episodes of the Crypto Maniacs podcast....
Building things yourself!
The context was to not 'wait' on someone to create and build what you want to see on chain, but literally...Do it yourself!
Need a better app? Build it!
Want to decentralize more? Set up a node!
We need to be the change we want to see in the world...Or even right here on chain!
Today though, I wanted to talk about 'building' something else.
And that is you!
What do I mean by that?
So if you know me by now, you'll know I'm a big fan of personal development, success thinking and growth. It's a mindset that helps us grow on our journey through life, especially as entrepreneurs.
One of my favorite authors of all time, Brian Tracy, has famously said in his many of his lectures that we can become an epxert at any niche we choose in less than a year.
That's a bold statement, doesn't it take years to learn it all?
Pretty sure we never stop learning all throughout life, but this is how he suggested that we approach life long learning. And you'll have to excuse the paraphrasing here...
He stated:
"If you want to become an expert in any niche or topic, study it when you have 'down time'. Are you commuting to work? Listen to a podcast or lecture on a certain topic every day during your drive....
"...As you do, you start accumulating knowledge that could potentially be the equivalent to a college education in a year!"
My big take away to this is pretty clear....
Every chance you get, learn!
Soak up everything you can about the topic you love. You see, this is pretty much the greatest investment you can ever make when it comes to your personal growth.
In fact, I think it's the best investment one can ever make in their lifetime....Spending the energy, time and even money is building yourself up.
And it works for like I mentioned....Any niche or passion.
Crypto, entrepreneurship, writing, fitness, tech.....Literally....Anything!
When you spend the time, investing the time excuse me, in yourself....The ROI on that is unmeasurable. I just don't think you can put a price or value on it, because while opportunities come and go, your personal growth habits will last a lifetime.
I used to call it, the University of Self Education! And it had a pretty nice sized library too....
I still think my personal library is one of my greatest assets ever...Every dime I spent into building myself up, will end up paying huge dividends down the road.
So as the new year begins we have to ask ourselves....

Learning, acquiring knowledge and skills can never be over emphasized. As you rightly quoted Brian Tracy we need to soak ourselves with knowledge and it's not harmful, no side effects
So true...Only side effect for me was....Too many books and trying to find a place to store them all lol

Never stop learning!
This is fantastic and it is just like my Forex trading. I began to learn a month ago and now, I’m getting better with constant practice because practice makes perfect.
I have never read a book by Brian Tracy but I promise to do one this year. Personal growth is all I care about
Soak every piece of information you can get about it....And check out @forexbrokr here on LEO as well. Dudes an expert in that stuff!
Right now... the new year has begun... new targets are being assessed and aquired. Building myself up in one way is to take on a new level of jobs at work.
I also think, more than ever, taking what I do on Hive seriously as a source of income both in my active short term budget and long term saving goals is key.

What I do on Hive have very real-world implications and when i do take money out, sure that slows down my growth, but it is life-changing in real life.
self growth indeed is a lasting investment that pays. A mentor once told me, a man can be stripped of everything except knowledge.
So true. It's the most important investment we can make I believe in ourselves...Knowledge is the key.
It is a fact that when a person has faith in himself, then only then he can be successful in this world, otherwise, a person will never be successful. It will pass and he will not even know it.
I dont have faith in myself per se....But I do have motivation and feel inspired to show up and have no excuses.

This is true. In order to go away from where we are to where we want to be we have to build things that would take us there. That is how the life works. I have learned a lot on hive and I slowly apply that I was not even at 100 HP and look now I am at 1250 HP and onwards. Each day have to add up something and keep building on that.
This is the way!
You will be blown away at where you will be in a year from now too...This place is life changing!

Sometimes you just need to do it yourself. I do agree that there is way more control over it if you do it yourself. Learning and figuring it out is a process.
I've had business partners over the past 15 years or something....But I made the most money online when I was solo....Relying on people can get you into trouble.
Investing in ourselves pays the best dividends. Learning and building ourselves up is a sure way to grow and evolve as a person. Perhaps, it's one of the best adventures, life long learning :)

Now that you mention it I think I’ll have to stop procrastinating on my one book a month policy. I managed to buy 6 last year but I’m going to make this a reality this year with 12 books a month.
I love Brian Tracy too but I’ve not read much of his books only eat that frog and maybe another two of his books. But if you’ve got any recommendations from him or anyone I would really appreciate that. Gotta start building my own library too.😊

Well said @jongolson. Brian Tracy is one of my favorites authors his book, "No excuses" has made me realize a lot of things I didn't know before and I'm willing to implement them in 2024. I love the term you coined university of self education and actually it is best university. As an undergraduate I can tell you most of what I'm being taught have no relevance in the job market.
Live long learning! It's a great habit to get into.
And yessir, No Excuses was one of my favorite books ever. Fantastic stuff!
