Sometimes you may hear, that the old testament was done away with, and we shouldn't read it...That's a weird angle to take, remember that Christ and His disciples never had 'the new testament' they were living it :)
Read Romans 15:4 for why it's important to study the WHOLE bible.
And I wonder, how can we decide to remove the old testament when there are lot of stories and events about the wondrous works of God, and even the prophecy about the coming of Jesus in Isaiah 7:14 and how Jesus will be conceived.
