I never knew what kind of job I wanted to do when I was a kid growing up. Other friends would state "I want to become a doctor, a lawyer etc etc". Not me.
I had absolutely no idea. Even when I grew up and finished school. When I started working, I learned one thing. I had to love my job to be able to be there. And that's what I have followed from then, till now.
Ever since blockchain started to gain more mainstream recognition, a growing number of individuals have aspired to build a career in this expanding and very dynamic field. The blockchain space evolves rapidly, creating an increased demand for well-educated and talented professionals.
What is web3?
Web3 is a term that describes a vision for a new, decentralized, and more democratic internet that is built on blockchain technologies. Blockchain is a system of storing and transferring data in a distributed way, without relying on a central authority or intermediary. Web3 aims to give users more ownership, control, and privacy over their online activities, as well as more opportunities to participate in the digital economy
Are we in web3 already?
Some may argue if we are already in Web3 or not. There are many applications and technologies that exist (cryptocurrencies, NFTs, DAOs etc) that have demonstrated the potential & value of Web3. However, we should keep in mind that Web3 is not a fixed state - it is more of a vision, a process of building a new internet with intersecting technologies of the future.
So, what are the skills that a professional needs to find a job in web3?
You will need to know what web3 is. How can you work in a field that you know nothing about? So, if you are looking to pursue a career in this space, make sure to simply .. join the space. Become a part of the community first of all, educate yourself, and be open-minded. Learn how it all started, learn about the challenges, the disruption, the opportunities and lay ahead.
The next step should be for you to develop & build your own skills. Companies in web3 have many diverse needs. Since this field is being built now, keep in mind that programmers and engineers will be the number one of professionals needed.
How can you find a job?
Create social media profiles (i.e. inleo.io, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn etc), start following web3 dapps, and interact with them. Build your network, while learning about the space.
