Aster’s mission is to rebuild the entire centralized trading experience on-chain.
Existing blockchains have many limitations because they weren't designed to optimize trading and often act like general-purpose databases rather than trading engines.
Aster chain is purpose-built for trading: orderbook logic is embedded at the protocol level instead of treating the blockchain as just storage.
That infrastructure is required to reach centralized-exchange–level performance, which current chains can't provide, so a dedicated L1 is necessary.
A fully transparent orderbook also brings drawbacks — sophisticated traders and large capital holders may avoid exposing their strategies.
There appears to be a substantial market for a high‑TPS, privacy-preserving implementation of this model.
$ASTER targets that opportunity by combining high throughput with privacy features
