It isn't really a metaverse if it is controlled by one company, it's just a Second Life clone or another MMORPG and its been done before. Heck, even having avatars on online services have been done before...in the 1980s with Commodore 64s. Now if we can get some kind of true VR interaction with the Internet as a whole, then maybe you could call that the metaverse. Otherwise it's just a meaningless buzzword.
