Is Axie Infinity Still Worth Playing?

Everyone who's into crypto has heard about Axie Infinity at least once but for those who live in a cave...

Axie Infinity is a Pokemon-inspired #Play2Earn game in which players buy, raise, breed and battle with NFT pets called Axies with over 1 million daily active players.

Axie Infinity went nuts during this bull run and it's governance token called AXS is now trading x30 the price it used to trade back in May. There's one problem though...

SLP (Smooth Love Potion), the token players earn for spending time playing the game is now trading at a much lower price (USD-wise) than a few months ago and a percentage of the Axie community is really upset about it since players earning are now earning 3 times less than they used to.

Axie Infinity had a killing year with over 1 million players joining the fun during summer and is the 1st ever blockchain game that went viral.

Those who joined during summer were earning more or less $300-$500 every month for spending 2 hours/day playing Axie and those HUGE monthly earnings were the reason more people kept joining the ecosystem and investing in Axies.

This caused a HUGE spike in the price of Axies and AXS (FOMO) and people who payed $1000 to buy an Axie Team back in summer are now feeling "trapped" since their team is now worth more or less half the money they paid for it.

Are those players really trapped though?

First of all Axie is a game and not a money-making machine. Yes, you can earn crypto for playing the game but fun comes first and money comes second, as in every game.

Now, there's no doupt that monthly Axie earnings are way less than what they used to be but if you kept playing every day since June then you already got your investment money back.

Last but not least, rewards are less for low-rank players but you can earn WAY MORE $$ if you decide to study the game mechanics and spend some time watching some gameplay videos! It's a competitive game after all and it's fair that better players are earning more than noobs.

What about your earning Knowhow92?

I'm compounding my game earnings back into the game for the past few months and am now the proud owner of 19 Axies, 16 in my account and 1 scholarship. Having more than 10 Axies in my account means I have 40 energy and that's double the energy from an account who holds less than 10 Axies.

This means I can play 20 more games in which I'm eligible for SLP rewards (1 Energy/1 Game).

My take on Daily Quest Rewards Changes and Slp Downfall

I was one of those people who were angry with the reward changes until I realised that all I had to do was to become a better player if I wanna earn more...and that's exactly what I did.

After watching a ton of gameplay videos and reading a ton of posts I am now happily sitting at almost 1900 MMR and earning around 300 SLP/day or $8. Not bad right?

That's a total of $240/month and that's enough money to pay for both my rent and utility bills and the the best part? Made that money from just having fun playing Axie Infinity haha! F*cking sick to be able to pay your rent from gaming right?

I also have my scholar who earns me around $40 extra/month + I am planning on giving a couple more scholarships soon so this will raise my monthly Axie income to a total of $400+/month with $120 of 'em being passive income.

I look at this low SLP price as an opportunity to buy more SLP so I can breed more Axies, create more scholarship teams and earn more passive income while at the same time financially helping my scholars.

Looking at the bigger picture

The world is going nuts with all that COVID shit, inflation hits all time high and average-folk jobs are paying less and less! The whole economic model is collapsing and corrupted governments are doing everything they can to ensure that poor are gonna stay poor.

Sure, SLP's inflation is super-high too and that's why the price has been on a constant decline the past few months (more minted than burned) but no one ever promised that Axie players are gonna make a living out of Axie Infinity.

The way I see it, Axie Infinity gives people a chance to earn for having fun and the best part is that you don't have to depend on any government to do that so I appreciate every single extra $$$ I can make outside of their corrupted finacial system.

With Battles V.2 and "Project L" around the corner, a HUGE solid community of Axie trainers and with a team that always delivers it's hard to not think that 2022 is gonna the year of Axie Infinity.

With the whole planet ready for a new lockdown thanks to the new COVID variant, hopefully people around the globe will realise they NEED a source of income outside of the current financial system and I'm sure Axie will be in the top spots of this race so be prepared.

When I wanted to try the game, that is four months ago, the cost of an AXIE was $ 300, and you need to have three to start, at which point I decided not to start. I haven't started playing Axie Infinity yet. Thanks for this post and for updating

It seems that blockchain games tend to fade out over time. Is it because the tokenomics are such that it is unsustainable or because the development/founders team do not keep innovating?

Either way, good write up. Axie seemed to lose its luster a bit of late.

Thanks a lot @taskmaster4450le. Yeah, the hype is gone since most people realised that Axie is a game in which you can earn some crypto if you're good and not a money making machine but I think everything's gonna be alright.

Team's solid and lots of updates are coming. It's tough when you're a pioneer

Probably the profit curve is going down, axie had its peak a few months ago but everything that goes up has to come down, that's the way games like this are.

Yeap! Still plenty of ways to earn a decent income from Axie though! Either through scholarships and gameplay or through breeding!

Awesome buddy, what a great bit of info. I invested in some AXIE and SLP tokens on my trading exchange, only to learn later how SLP has been redesigned. I see it's losing value, as is the entire market of course, now in this bear trend. I'm sure AXIE will gain value again but do you think SLP has any hope of gaining a it of value?

SLP is a utility token and it's only use for now is to breed Axies so my answer is NO in the short term.

I'm confident it will rise a fair bit in value though once new features and use cases are introduced though project L (Lands) once it out.

I am keeping as much SLP as I need to breed and convert the rest to AXS using KATANA exchange cause I too think that AXS will sky rocket.

Hey thanks for that, I downloaded a Ronin wallet and checked out the Katana exchange. Unfortunately Kucoin charges way too much for me to move my AXS or SLP to the wallet so it's stuck on Kucoin. What a bother.

Shit man, Binance doesn't charge shit! Just 1 SLP or 0.00something AXS for sending your funds!

Hope Kucoin joins Ronin Network soon they can eliminate those HUGE ETH fees
