Getting Started with Maya Protocol | wLEO-CACAO Listing

The Future of LEO

If you didn't catch the recent announcement from the InLeo team, the LEO token is being listed on a new decentralized exchange protocol! In short, the wLEO (wrapped LEO) token is going to have a liquidity pair with Maya Protocol's CACAO token. The pair will be WLEO-CACAO and will enable swapping of different native assets such as BTC, ETH, DASH, & KUJI to be swapped for WLEO. Of course that WLEO can be unwrapped to native LEO at any time. If you don't realize how incredibly powerful this is, I suggest reading that article linked above again.

Maya Protocol has around $80m in TVL across the different pools, and our little old LEO token is about to get a taste of some of that capital. What we need to do as a community is step up and provide liquidity to the pool when it goes live. This signals support for InLeo and shows the Maya community that we are serious about providing access to our token. If we launch the pool and there is little to no liquidity, it'll just be another token to trade. On the flip side, if the pair launched and surpassed the USDT pool or any of the others, people will notice.

Beyond just the listing, as mentioned in the article, InLeo is building a UI for swapping tokens on Maya Protocol. This will enable a lot of things, such as swapping from HIVE or HBD to BTC, using LEO as the median token. Obviously there is a lot of development to be done for this, but initially this will position InLeo as one of the few front-ends to swap tokens that are on Maya Protocol. Some of these front-ends are doing millions of dollars per day in swaps and earning 0.75%. The difference would be - all of that revenue being driven to the LEO token. Flywheeeeeeeel.

So - if you've never used Maya, this is the place for you. I'll be covering wallets, front-ends, and more!

Maya Protocol

this is old, the ecosystem is growing

Wallets

Keystore

The most basic form of wallet. It's a file that holds your keys. Not familiar? I wrote a guide on that here - How to create a Maya Protocol Wallet

XDEFI

My favorite of the different wallets that support Maya. It has been around for a long time and has tons of users. Supports Thorchain and a number of other different blockchains. Highly recommended as a replacement for Metamask. Getting a Maya wallet is stupid easy, as you automatically get one when you set up your wallet. You can get XDEFI here and you're ready to go!

Asgardex

Only for desktop, open-source wallet application. Very light weight, great for managing funds across thorchain and maya. You can get Asgardex by downloading from here on your computer. It also allows swaps right inside the application, which is super convenient.

Leap

The latest in the wallet lineup, which I have not personally used. It is the only wallet for Maya that has both a mobile and desktop app, so might be worth checking out if that's important to you. It supports tons of different Cosmos chains and has swaps built right in as well. They even have a launchpad for Cosmos apps. I'll have to do some experimenting to see if I want to start using Leap. As it's pretty new, a lot of the front-ends for Maya have not integrated it yet. I can see that happening very soon, because the app looks and feels great.

THORWallet

Web and app-based wallet that supports both Thorchain and Maya Protocol. It was the first UI to fully integrate Maya so it was the first one I used as well. I use it very frequently as it also has a DEX built in. THORWallet mobile app also has support for MRC-20 tokens, which are tokens on Maya that have really just started being experimented with. I use Thorwallet for my mobile Maya stuff, works very wallet. I much prefer the web experience on desktop, though. Supports everything from liquidity pooling to savers vaults on thorchain (soon on maya). The mobile UI is kinda clunky.

Maya Protocol Front-Ends

A couple of the wallet apps mentioned above provide you the ability to swap and LP. Some of them do not. So if you want to get the full Maya experience, there's a few websites that you will want to bookmark. These are ones that I have personally used and each has its own advantages, of course. Soon InLeo could be one of these interfaces that people use on a daily basis for swapping assets across different blockchains. For now, we have a few to work with.

El Dorado

El Dorado is the first every Maya-native front-end. You can enter the city of gold and perform all your swapping and liquidity pool stuff. Soon, they will have support for Maya Savers vaults, which will allow staking of single assets. They have an advantage on routing over other front-ends! They have ChainFlip as a backend as well. So the site automatically makes sure that you are getting the best routing on your swaps, whether it goes through a Maya or Chainflip pool. El Dorado is going to be launching a token at some point called ELDO, and rumor has it, the airdrop will be based on volume. Might be worth moving some funds through here to farm the drop.

CacaoSwap

My favorite front-end for Maya as of late. It's extremely simple on Basic mode, very familiar. It's like Uniswap. You connect your wallet, select the input and output, and that's it. If you want charts and more "pro" trading features, you can use Pro mode. If you wanna have a laugh, you can switch to Meme Mode to get the funniest UI ever. CacaoSwap is built by the Calculated Finance team that builds apps for Kujira, so they have close ties to that community/ecosystem. Their hopes are to bring more Kujira users to Maya through their site. They are also launching a token at some point (probably on Kujira) called YUM. There are no details about the tokenomics or airdrop requirements... Safe to assume that the more volume you push through their website, the more you might get when that time comes.

Kensho

Kensho Finance is the newest front-end for Maya. If supports a number of different chains for trading with zero fees. It also has the Maya Names service built in, which is similar to ENS. You can purchase a Maya Name and use that for transacting instead of having to remember your random wallet address. While there is no news of an airdrop for Kensho, they are tracking trades through the platform for an NFT giveaway. The NFT supposedly will grant fee free trades on their platform for life. The platform is very basic at the moment, but works very well. Going to have to grab a couple Maya Names before CACAO goes to the moon too hard.

Rango Exchange

Full-fledged decentralized exchange like THORWallet DEX. It does not have support for liquidity position management. They were the second front-end to support Maya after thorwallet, and they also support tons of other chains. What more can I even say here? Rango Exchange supports 50 different blockchains for cross-chain trading. Supports tons of different wallets including mentioned above. I personally don't use Rango unless it's a last resort. That's just because the other front-ends are more appealing to me. Gotta make sure I farm those token airdrops!

Welcome to the tribe, Mayan.

You should have all the tools you need now to get ready for the wLEO-CACAO pool. Get your wallets ready, and have your tokens ready to LP. We need to make this launch massive, and the only way to do that is to make sure we have participation from the community. We need a DEEP liquidity pool if we want to be taken seriously.

Thank you for this info on the Maya blockchain and the upcoming listing.
The wallet info was also very useful.

glad you found it useful

Utlimately will we need a wallet or to even know this if there will be a swap feature within the leo ui?

InLeo is building a UI for swapping tokens on Maya Protocol.

Yes, you will need a wallet.

Bookmarked...

Been needing a way to get my funds out of hive since Binance was just banned in my country.

Routing through Leo and to Maya is a kind of roundabout way to do it...

But it might just hold more in favor for me...

Let's see...

Awesome guide! Bookmarked. Now gonna share this all around! 👌

thanks fren
