RE: LSTR and SURGE to Go Cross-Chain | Launching on Base & Onboarding FIAT to LEO

in LeoFinance2 months ago

Congratulations on this move, I'm delighted to see LSTR and SURGE going to where the market is. A big issue around here has been everyone expecting people to come to HIVE, instead of taking HIVE to where the people are. First the Leofinance team, and now @leostrategy are doing this the right way around.

My questions are:

  • Is there any benefits as an investor in these tokens to shifting the holdings over to BASE, or is it primarily aimed at attracting fresh, outside capital?
  • Is the BASE version going to be considered the "Home chain" and the Hive engine version of these tokens as bridged i.e. is LSTR becoming a BASE token with a bridge TO Hive, or vice-versa?

Keep up the great work, looking forward to the journey ahead for LSTR and SURGE holders.

Sort:

It was vital that we got our start here as the formation of capital and structures is very seamless. To grow, we must expand to where the capital markets are and those markets are trading billions of dollars per day (on the Base blockchain). We're glad you see the value in this!

  • From a user POV there are a handful of benefits/trade-offs. Each can be slightly different. For LSTR, its not much different. For SURGE, you would get paid USDC on Base every week instead of HBD on Hive (for dividends). Outside of this, SURGE & LSTR will have deeper liquidity pools on Base than on Hive, so the primary use case will be trading them / tapping liquidity
  • Most likely, yes. There's a reason the LEO team did the same thing with LEO on Arbitrum. In a cross-chain future, your "home chain" doesn't actually matter a whole lot. It is more of a statement of purpose than anything else. LSTR & SURGE will be seamlessly fungible across chains. We also will not be naming them "bLSTR" or "heLSTR". Instead, our LSTR and SURGE tokens will have the same names across all chains to signify a cross-chain, agnostic future

Great questions!

We are excited as well. Once these capital markets are opened up to us, the presale figures we have done on Hive will seem miniscule. There are billions of dollars in hungry capital looking for ripe opportunities on Base. Our partners are helping us make the final setups. We're also aiming to have the SURGE presale over (or close to it) before the Base launch. This is essential as we want Lions to have the first slice
