Interestingly enough, apparently they don't mention words like 'nft', 'blockchain' or 'crypto' to avoid freaking moms out. They are just selling "digital pins".
This is probably how blockchain is gonna take over, they just stop calling it 'blockchain' and just start using it like nothing ever happened.
true. NFTs are just tapping into human culture which is largely speculative and obsessed with status. It IS ridiculous but people will tease others for engaging in this behavior without actually changing it in themselves. My mother has all my old toys up in the attic not out of nostalgia but because “they’ll be worth something some day”. What’s the difference?
Personally I’m interested in NFTs that can be used, have you heard of Not a Hotel? Cool concept but way out of my price range. My student bought one. I’d love to buy some NFT demo recordings of some lesser known bands who I think will become famous one day, once that becomes a thing.

Good point! I think the popularity and the boom of NFTs caters to our need to collect things. For some the urge is stronger but I guess it's in the DNA of all of us since the hunter/gatherer days.
Use cases is something I'm looking and hoping for and perhaps more and more projects will go in that direction.
What Disney did here is actually quite clever from their perspective, the technology is great but name 'NFT' is tainted so they'd just stop using it. Some might call it diverting customers and I can also understand that argument.

During the townhall discussion noticed some witness wanted to eliminate the rewards on Hive. So listening to Yesterday's Chain Chatter there seems to be the discussion of removal of the Community aspect of Hive.
What is going on?
Nostr struggles with rewards and community system so much so they arrange meetups, spaces and rely on "Freedom of speech" drama to bring people who post content for nothing.
Hive has community and rewards but now in quest to bump the adoption we alienate users? and make it trade only?
It's like you have family and stability and you start to look outside for fun?
I wonder if people who have these idea genuinely believe it or if they just want to start the discussion. When the reward idea came up it sparked a lot of debate and many users got involved.
It will negatively backfire. Imagine if you tell me that I can't live in apartment but rent is xyz, do you think I'd remain invested in the apartment. telling people there would be no rewards, no social of the hive then people would start removing delegation, take their earning away. so even if this is done to troll it's bad trolling..
From what I heard removing rewards is a minority view and the witnesses are unlikely to change that aspect. There's no harm in discussing how Hive can evolve. For many of us the community aspect is vital.

I use a private custom list as my 'threads following' list.
It obvs has different users to those I 'follow' on my normal Hive account for their long form.
I no longer have to spend more than 2 mins every now and then looking at the latest feed.
So like me then, and yes the latest feed hmm .. no comment.
Imagine a 'Latest' feed on Twitter lolol.

Use bitcoin if it makes sense. Chickens may furnish a better (chicken/egg) rate of return for you (in any market) in this case.
