NFTs have had an incredible few months. Individual NFTs have sold for more than a million dollars.

I wanted to share some thoughts on that, how I think about NFTs generally, and why I believe NFTs are a megatrend that are here to stay.

Interesting perspective with social status. Although I love Crypto Art, I think it's currently a combination of hype, mania, speculation, price manipulation / money laundering, and also stupidity, although it's possible that some art tokens could become or remain valuable. All in all similar to physical art, but more modern and feature-rich. For example it could be possible in the future to include and trade commercial usage licenses with NFTs. Imagine buying a license for a song as an NFT and be able to undoubtedly proof to Google/YouTube that you have a license to include it in a video. This could be very disruptive because acquiring licenses and proofing it to YouTube currently sucks.

I thought buying skins for hundred if not thousands of dollars in online games was already absurd but then I was introduced to NFTs...

This is the beauty of crypto and blockchain technology, we can give a value to something that for others might have no value. It’s pretty much like with any art imo

I think the underlying value of the NFTs are much dependent on the initial manipulation of the original creators, but in the long run I believe real art will find its rightful place

That’s beautifully explained with all the right info and examples. Kudos!

Thank you Riya!

Crazy people buying stupid nfts they have more money than sense and also they are definitely laundering money 👍🏾

I'm sure there is some money laundering going on. But plenty of genuine demand too

There's quite a lot of money laundering going on you just need to check out the transactions and it's right there plain to see 👀👀👀

I'm sure there is a small demand but who would really pay stupid money for worthless art it don't make sense 🤔

If I understand correctly, these cryptopunks NFTs are created using programming, not by using traditional methods (e.g., watercolors, photoshop, etc). This is the part that I don't get. Wouldn't it be more valuable to buy art in which the artist has painstakingly thought about his creation rather than just programmed a few lines and pressed enter?

great to see you around the HIVE Louis!

Great to be here!

Great video and the sound is clear.
