All the EU needed 2B was a free trade zone-- that's it. Although the EU may have been doomed from the start, most of its major problems began when it began acting as a superstate or a transnational gov't. Actually, USA has the same problem.

I agree the EU was doomed from the start. It was a bad idea. To start, going with a single currency without consolidating all the debt was a problem. Then there was the history of more than 1,000 years where the people hate each other. Over the last 80 years, the US occupation of the area primarily served to keep the Europeans from killing each other.

The US problem is really isolated to the warmongers. That is where the issues arise. Being a superpower is different than being the one who wants to run the security for every nation and overthrow regimes that really dont matter. These proxy wars over the last 80 years are ridiculous.

Have no fear, the warmongers in the State Department promise this time is different and they will defeat Russia.

Another loss coming up I predict.

Until 1945, USG drew down its armed forces once a war ended. After WW2, USG ended that time-honored tradition. Part of it was due 2 Cold War, but much of it was its transformation N2 a "national security state". We're paying 4 that mistake.
