It is really hard to tell the AI to not rewrite your writing, but to make it smooth to consume. Especially if the paragraphs are getting longer. But I did get some success with giving it actual % of changes I am ok with.

Nice but a bit stale, I need that 20% less invasive towards my original, a bit more human emotion like a tech journalist would have. This is too endorsing, it sounds too much like an advertisement. Would you retry?
And it will retry.
After all it is a tool, use it the wrong way and you will just hurt yourself.
I didn't help me much with my writing style and absolutely sucks with humor. I enjoy it a lot for searching the web now and quick calculations. Things of that nature. I do know how to "talk" to it in order to get best results. Takes skill.
I bet it does, those AIs are a buch of strange birds.
