News and Opinion: July 18, 2022. Gazprom has Declared Force Majeure and Will Not Supply Germany with Gas

Gazprom has declared force majeure on gas supplies to Germany through Nordstream 1. What this means is that the supplies of natural gas through the mentioned pipeline have been suspended indefinitely. Read this article for further information.

The German and European societies are highly energy intensive. They are advanced technologically and complex culturally. Their populations are used to a high standard of living, to comfort and quick gratification. All these things are provided by energy. For decades, they have been used to cheap energy, sold mainly by Russia. Now, this standard of living is going to be challenged because of an ill-designed "green" agenda, which has prioritized the decommissioning of nuclear reactors and the shutting down of coal power plants.

Is this the time when those societies are going to replace their ruling politicians?

What about solar power?

Solar power is an option, but cannot be the whole option. The sun shines during the day only. For the energy to be used at night you would need batteries and the needed metals and disposing it problems would defeat the purpose. The ideal is a hybrid solar/non-renewable system
