Credentialism is insidious. Its license for those with box-ticking skills and a willingness to endure tedium to silence those with actual nose-to-the-grindstone experience.
Bureaucracy is for those who fear meritocracy.

In a world where information has the most value, very few will be able to compete on merit. However, at the practical level of skill, it will be apparent as to who has it, and who does not. The credentials are the proof in the pudding.
