How is everyone? I hope everyone is well. Today’s topic is a little thought, a little discussion. Because those three words spoken by Jack Dorsey have recently caused quite a stir in the tech world— “bitcoin is not crypto.” It may seem a little surprising at first, but I personally think that if you understand the matter deeply, you can find a lot of logic in it.

The first thing that needs to be clarified is that Bitcoin and all other cryptocurrencies are not the same thing. Because its birth, purpose, control system—everything is different. Bitcoin was created as an independent digital currency, where no company, government, or foundation controls it. There is no pre-mining or ownership of any foundation. And that’s where it differs from other tokens.
I think Bitcoin’s biggest strength is its fixed rule or fixed supply system. More than 21 million Bitcoins will never come into the world. Every four years, the block reward decreases, which we call halving. Many people call Bitcoin “digital gold” because of this specific rule. On the other hand, most crypto networks, including Ethereum, change their rules whenever they want—sometimes reducing supply, sometimes increasing it, and sometimes changing the entire system (such as the Ethereum Merge).
Another aspect is Bitcoin’s security and slow development. It is very difficult to change the Bitcoin blockchain. When a new update is implemented, it takes years. This is because no one can make a decision alone—it requires the consent of all network users, miners, and developers. In contrast, other crypto projects are often busy with updates, new features, smart contracts, etc.

Finally, I personally think that the market now also looks at Bitcoin differently. Because it has brought ETFs, large institutions, pension funds—who do not go to other tokens but feel comfortable investing in Bitcoin.
So, after all, is Bitcoin really “not crypto”? Without saying it outright, I would say that Bitcoin is a world of its own within crypto — a digital currency that is not just a token, but an idea, a revolution.
