As we draw closer to the Bitcoin halving (April 20th), many are eagerly anticipating the effects the Bitcoin halving event will have on the crypto market with. Looking back at the previous Bitcoin halving during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bitcoin prices experienced significant drops plummeting to around $3,000. Forward to today and BTC prices have skyrocketed to twenty times that low point recorded in April 2020.
Let's meet Baron Fyatt and Henchling Enforcer!
This past week, the splinterlands team have introduced two new promo cards in honor of the 2024 Bitcoin halving. These special promo cards, Baron Fyatt and Henchling Enforcer symbolize a blend of excitement for the halving event. Both cards feature dual element units with the Halving ability that sets them apart as new additions to any player's deck. These exclusive promo cards are only available, during this event period and cannot be obtained through packs; they can only be acquired during the event.
By drawing comparisons to promotions like the Halfling Alchemist promo, during the 2020 Bitcoin halving event highlights how important these exclusive cards are. The fact that Baron Fyatt and Henchling Enforcer have the Halving ability, which can have an impact in battles as magic tends to be used more in higher leagues. While these cards are undeniably strong my personal preference leans towards not participating in sales for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I usually prefer waiting for prices to settle before making any purchases. Secondly since my current collection lacks rebellion set cards, I do not anticipate adding any to it in the future.
First End of Season With New Glint Reward Shop
Although not having SPS in the end of season rewards feels somewhat weird, the splinterlands teams has assured that increased SPS rewards from battles does offset this. I used my end of season Glint tokens and opened 10 Master Draw packs and received three legendaries, one epic and some common and rare monsters. These Soulbound cards sort of defeat the purpose of play2earn, but the team did confirm that later this year, these cards will become unbounded, so all I am doing is stacking as many of them as I can.
Jungles of Thece Land Update and SPS 100k Target
Since the last update, the SPS decline continues. I do not know what will stop the bleeding, but the sentiment around the game is at a low point and I hope the new player experience will prove positive and attract the masses to the game. Logically any decrease in SPS price has adverse effects in my Land investments with the numbers looking a horror show at the moment.
