Part of the problem with sex workers and the finances of it is the youth factor.
Of course, there are a lot of smart, savvy, money smart youth out there - but they are not the majority.
These girls are often really just kids, and once they figure out how to really "make money" then they realize that they money isn't in the dancing, its in the ... and that is where their next job goes.
BTW - lots of my insight regarding sex workers comes from being a hotline worker for Children of the Night, a non profit dedicated to taking prostitutes under 18 off the streets.
