Girls in Crypto (my crypto Journey)

in LeoFinancelast month (edited)

It's the 21st century and gone are the days when the female gender should be passive and unperturbed about the crypto arsenal that are present in the word today. Women used to find the concept cubersome to understand, much more participate in it.

Only a few women in the early crypto days dared to venture in and be a part of the process and they did excel. Moving forward to recent times, it's evident that more women are beginning to take the bull by the horns and accept the process and journey to being a part of the crypto world, irrespective of the hurdles they may face.

I was recently challenged and awed at the same time when i saw women who ran successful businesses begin to accept cryto currency as a means of payment. The had wallets and readily did transactions without the normalized banking system which we're all privy to.

I remember when i was first introduced to the crypto world, i was mesmerized. Infact i was stunned to the fullest because there were so many currencies Bitcoin, dogecoin, Ethereum, vertcoin, steller, Bitcoin cash, name coin, tether, verge, monero and the list continues. Each of these currencies have their different chains for transactions and one cannot be mixed up with the other. What else can be more complex?!

My Journey

My first ever crypto asset was BCH. I was introduced to read.cash then by a friend who said the platform was a blogging platform and writers got rewarded in Bitcoin cash. Since i loved writing, i figured i could do it. I knew nothing about crypto then. My wallets were set up by friends, all i basically did was blog and earn and they'd handle withdrawal to my wallets and convert to Naira whenever i needed quick cash. I had thought the whole concept was beyond me until i came across a female, a girl like me on the platform who was very vast and talked about these things like they were simple. I was beyond motivated!

I was challanged and began to learn in bits from how to make withdrawals and run simple transactions to my wallet and then with time i began to know more. As my knowledge increased, i realized that all this while, if my friends had been dubious people, they could have ripped me off easily because they had access to my wallet, knew my seed phrases and basically helped me with every transaction ever. As soon as i could, i had new wallets opened and soon became ready for it all. As if to welcome my seeming readyness, the bear market hit and i saw my BCH reducing daily. I almost died of fright but that's a story for another day.

Just as i was about to get my foot on the ground and start walking, i was introduced to the world of NFTs (non fungible token standards).

These are way different from cryptocurrencies because they are non fungible. This means that they cannot be replaced or exchanged for something of the same value or quantity. They are unique and one cannot be replaced by another.

Each NFT minted on the Blockchain is different from other NFTs because it is encoded with distinct metadata which makes them individually unique. This unique individuality lessens the chance for scam or fraud within the system. Metaverse communities and online games have adopted the use of NFTs.

What confused me the most about NFTs was that they were not like the crypto currencies at all. They were pictures, animals, fruits they basically took an artistic expressive form.

I'm yet to find my footing in this aspect but i am proud of my journey. From being a total novice and foreigner in the land of crypto to actively minting and HODLing coins, converting coins to stable USDT and understanding the bull and bear runs. Also, there's the system of wallet management where i have to keep my seed phrases offline and manual, ensuring they are safe and properly secured.

I had once been a victim of unrecovered assets because i forgot or misplaced my seed phrase. For those reading who do not know what a seed phrase is, its is a combination of random words that are generated by your wallet. Its a readable version of a key that helps secure your wallet from fraudsters and hackers. It usually consists of a mimimum of 12 words that are completely random which makes them hard to memorize.

I used to be pissed at how random and unrelated the words were because they do not form a coherent sentence, hence one cannot memorize them. As soon as i realized it was all for the safety of my assets, especially when i work so hard to accumulate them, my narrative changed.

The vast world of crypto is getting even vast by the day and I'm gradually exploring it's opportunities. If you're a girl reading this, you too should feel challenged by this post. If you've dabbled into crypto and you're very vast, good for you! If you're minutely involved, now's the time to do much more. If you're on the side lines unbothered by the moving train, i think its time you hoped on.

Keep in mind that it will not be a swift ride, the bear and bulls will arise, so will the dark cloud but there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

Cheers to all knowledgeable Crypto females out there. This is the little story of my humble beginning and Journey, i hope it inspires you!❤️❤️

I also tried the Bitcoin Cash microblogging application, then stopped using it. I've lost sight of this project a little

We're both guilty of the same crime😁 i took a big pause on all things blogging as soon as school activities got tight. Glad to be back.
