The Psychological Aspect: Emotional Attachment to Digital Assets

The Emotional Value of Magic Internet Money

People often say that internet money doesn't exist, yet I found myself almost in tears when I had to sell my Black Dragon Splinterlands NFT for about $40.

This wasn't just a random card; it was my trusted ally in the battles I faced in the game. It could shoot fireballs, fly, and even regenerate its health. Its artwork was nothing short of amazing!!!

The Heart-Wrenching Decision

I had to part with my Black Dragon because it was my birthday, and I was low on cash. I needed to celebrate with my family and a couple of close friends. I opened my stash of Splinterlands NFTs, and sadly, it was the Black Dragon that had to go. I felt it deeply; it was like parting with a piece of myself. Yet, some people still say that NFTs and internet money are worthless.

Emotional Investment: More Than Just Digital Art

Here's the thing: the same emotions that made it so painful for me to part with my Black Dragon are what make NFTs like these valuable. The dragon wasn't just a collection of pixels; it was a unique combination of utility and art that had real-world demand. It was more than just a card; it was an experience, a digital relationship that I had invested time and emotions into.

How many NFTs out there have some utility that matter enough to be spoken about in such manner?

I remember back in the days when the NFT hype was full on, people will pay hefty amounts of money to acquire NFTs that gave them only bragging rights to say they had the NFT! Those were the types I never got to understand, then it got better, some NFTs began to give entry to exclusive events, Okay, maybe that worked, but the question is how many of those events still happen now? but to each his own.

Emotional Value in the NFT Community

This emotional connection isn't just about me. It's a sentiment shared within the NFT community, especially for platforms like Splinterlands that offer limited editions with distinct utilities. These aren't just collectibles; they're assets that we bond with, that we integrate into our virtual lives.

The Market: A Cruel Reality

The current bear market forced me to sell my Black Dragon for far less than it would be worth in a bullish scenario. This wasn't just a financial loss; it was an emotional one. And yet, despite the market conditions, I had something valuable to sell, something that had both monetary and emotional worth to me.

Learning Lessons the Hard Way

But the super important thing is that I had something to sell right? So while some people are still all on about internet magic money being unreal and some are actually holding internet magic money that has no real value, some like myself are building empires through them. My goal before the last bull run was to sell high and buy back low, but look at me now, I held through the run only to be selling low. Akin you need to do better with your life.

The Emotional Rollercoaster of NFT Economics

While the tokenomics of NFTs like Black Dragon are crucial in determining their financial value, it's the emotional investment that often goes overlooked. This emotional layer adds intrinsic value to the asset, making each NFT not just a digital item but also an experience and a memory

The NFT Ecosystem: Not Just for Gamers and Artists

While my experience revolves around gaming NFTs like Splinterlands, it's important to note that the NFT ecosystem has grown to include a wide range of assets, from virtual real estate to digital sneakers. This diversification of assets makes the space more appealing to a broader audience and increases the overall market value and everyone has one thing or the other that excites them

The Regulatory Landscape

Given the lack of a solid regulatory framework for NFTs and cryptocurrencies, there's a level of uncertainty that both excites and concerns investors. The regulatory environment could play a pivotal role in the valuation and legitimacy of NFTs in the near future.

My Future Hopes

As I navigate this bear market, I can't help but think of the other cards I'll have to part with. Each has its own story, its own emotional value. I'm holding onto some until the market turns, even if it means waiting for a unicorn farting rainbows. 🤣

So, whether you're an investor, a gamer, or just someone curious about NFTs, remember that their value isn't just in the code or the artwork, but also in the emotional connections they build. And that's something no bear market can take away.

The emotional value I put on my collection of cards I kept since 2020, is the main reason I work two jobs in order to secure higher value during the bull run. I am also making cheap purchases of cards to protect my favorite warriors during the sales in a few years.
Thank you very much

Thank you very much. It’s good to see I’m not alone, I’m not so crazy after all 😅🤣

Selling SP cards is also a challenge for me. I need to sell several Untamed cards, but I haven't sold them yet. I didn't even list them.

Ha! You totally understand! I’m glad I’m not the only one.
