Not too long ago, we saw ChatGPT evolve from ChatGPT3, 3.5, to the supercharged ChatGPT4 by OpenAI. Now, developers have gone a step further and introduced a hybrid called AutoGPT, while debates about ChatGPT's nature continue.
Gone are the days when technology moved at the speed of light as a metaphor; now, it's a chilling reality. AutoGPT takes ChatGPT4 to the next level, directing multiple ChatGPT4 assistants to achieve a common goal and deliver even better results.
AutoGPT boasts internet access, short and long-term memory management, text generation, and integration with 11 Labs (AI text-to-speech gen). The kicker? It operates AUTOMATICALLY without your input!
When I first encountered AutoGPT, I was skeptical, but after trying it out, I was blown away. This isn't just a copy; it's a full-blown evolution!
Currently, using AutoGPT effectively means burning some funds with your OpenAI API key. But trust me, it's worth it.
I tested AutoGPT with a prompt I had saved for a more powerful ChatGPT: building an AI that would trade crypto on my behalf but in dummy mode with dummy crypto. Check out the prompt below.
Building my crypto trading app
I'd like to create an app that not only displays my crypto assets but also utilizes AI to execute simulated trades for each coin as though they were individual entities. The app will use a virtual account with play money and advanced analytics to optimize profits. It will inform me of its trading actions, enabling me to decide whether to apply these strategies in reality. The main objective is to maximize returns by buying low and selling high, emphasizing constant growth and rapid results. The workings were nothing short of amazing. I couldn’t get the complete result because the AgentGPT I was using was the free version so it could only run for so long. I think this is due to the fact that we are still very early to this and it’ll get better with time.
AutoGPT breaks tasks into smaller chunks and uses all available resources to accomplish each task efficiently. It's like having your very own Jarvis from Iron Man. The way Iron Man instructs Jarvis and it utilizes all resources to achieve the desired outcome is simply incredible.
The capabilities are off the hook, before now we were talking about coding no code, now we have started talking about unsupervised coding. It takes some time to get used to.

I’m not thrilled about this, especially because it has access to the internet. How long before it’s hacking into things? If it hasn’t already? I think this is a bleak time and we won’t know the ramifications for a while. It will be positive, maybe, in the future but this is not going to go well in the short term. Not to be a Debbie downer.
Your concerns are very valid.
But I also imagine similar concerns when the internet was given to the world, till today, many still fall for some sort of internet scams or other hazardous experiences, AI will be no different, we will learn to deal with it as they come just as we learned to deal with every other issue that came other technologies.
