War against ChatGPT - Fear or Double standards?
What is this war against AI I’m seeing all over social media? - Chat GPT specifically, at first I thought it was just some shade from the fact that this paradigm was new and that people mostly feared what they didn’t understand but it seems to be reaching farther than that and is giving a feeling of double standards.
We are allowed to automate our finances, our businesses, even our movement and many other things you can think of, but using Artificial Intelligence to automate school works is where we draw the line? I’ve also seen comments where people are against using AI to compose literary works/articles because it undermines proof of brain.
But we embrace other forms of technology even in schools, we employ the use of calculators, computers, we use Google!!!!!!!!Google!!!!! Do you know how life was back in the day when there was no Google and people had to use the library to access information? Boomers? For most Gen Z’s, they have no cognizance of life without google. How come using Google never undermined proof of brain?
Many people are not ready for the future, if AI can write essays so well, how do you prevent kids/students from using AI to write essays for them? The real question is why do kids need to be so good at writing essays? Literally no one says how do you prevent students from using calculator as it prevents students from being good at calculus.
It’s not about writing the essay in itself, it’s more about using the right resources and technique, which directly influences one’s lines of thought to arrive at a reasonable conclusion or argument or point of view.
The Future is here
Let’s think about it, do we slow down the rate of technological advancements so that humans can catch up or do humans need to catch up to technological advancements so that the rate of development will not be slowed down?
In my opinion, humans need to catch up, the education system needs to be revamped to accommodate technological advancements, likewise every sector.
I was trying out a programming IDE the other day and found a pop up asking me if I wanted to activate my AI personal assistant to help me in writing code for a certain fee, this is the future, the future where everyone with enough technical skills have access to an AI personal assistant, now think of everything a virtual personal assistant does, then think of an AI bot taking over 🤯
What NYC education department is doing is obviously not the solution, infact what they’re doing feels like when schools blocked internet in the late 90’s only to later realize the immense benefits it offered learning. Moreover, bypassing the blocks will be almost as easy and beneficial to those to who endeavor to, giving them unfair advantage over others who don’t.
Moreover, there are other applications that detect when AI has been used to write an article. I support the future where the use of ChatGPT in education is seen as a system where students work with it collaboratively rather than rely on it totally. So how do we introduce checks and balance to ensure this? This are questions we should be asking.
What do you think? Thanks for reading.

Fully agree, we have to embrace it, use it as a power tool and make the best out of it instead of seeing it as an enemy.
Yeah, tech is not the enemy, we are quick to displace what we don’t understand. We should change

Maybe the school is actually smarter than we think because by "blocking" GPT chat they are actually incentivizing kids to seek it out more.
Where there is a will there is a way, if the school says no to AI, we'll then the underground market will find a way to get it right in their hands, even during school hours. So instead of the students sneaking off to the bathroom to smoke pot and get high, maybe schools flip the narrative so they sneak off to the bathroom to get a GPT quick fix for their pop quiz. lol
Lol!!!💯 💯 💯
And still smoke pot while at it! Lmao!!Must be nice.
If I could like this comment twice I would
ChatGPT is really crazy and cool. However, I believe that human are still better than AI when it comes to writing.
Yeah, but AI will also keep getting better though,..let’s see how much Humans can keep up

I just read a discussion of this news on reddit some moments ago and that was when I realized there are still individuals who are against AI. The best solution is to restructure the educational system to fit into the new world.
I believe you are referring to Github Copilot. This tool has helped developers alot since 2021, it was free during until June 2022 that they announced that, it's now going to be charging $10 a month. It's cool though so the fee is worth it

Like I can count the amount of times I went to the library in my Uni years just because I had Google, 9/10 of the time, I’ll find what I’m looking for in the library on Google and even more.
I’m even referring to Replit, see, it’s already almost everywhere, I love where this is going because it means AI will become even better programmers which will lead to easier programming for everyone.
Think of all the people with ideas but don’t have coding skills, with personal AI’s of this types, those ideas are closer to being executed than not. it’s so exciting to think about….

Google has been against the integration into search engines too. I seems people are really afraid of the future but I really do not think that its anything to worry about if you are goal driven.
I wrote a post about Binge's plan to integrate ChatGPT to their engine here
Lol it will be nice to see a Google powered AI too. Let’s start seeing these competitions.
Nice I’ll check out the post now
