Madame Professor wins the first Parallel TCG King of The Hill!

in LeoFinance8 months ago (edited)

MMG's first King of The Hill (KOTH) event for Parallel TCG concluded with a dominant 3-0 run from late entry Madame Professor. The final battle was a mirror match of Augencore Juggernaut Workshop starter decks.

Little is known about our first winner, Madame Professor (aka Mad Prof.), other than that they are a "Warden" (moderator) in the Parallel Discord server, and a fierce competitor for Exile esports.

The event runner-up 0xBounty was also a standout of the evening, easily defeating Parallel-newcomer event hosts Satsoshi and Smurf, for a 2-0 debut, before butting heads with Madame Professor. 0xBounty is a streamer, co-founder of Exile esports, and moderator in the Parallel discord server.

Event Highlight - The Final Match

Here are the final minutes of our first Parallel TCG King of The Hill event. We chose this time as it allows you to see just how kneck-and-kneck this mirror match finals between two 2 win players was.

Wondering what KOTH is?

KOTH is a game format where the winner continues to play against new opponents. MMG has nearly pefected the format after running more than half a decade of free to play KOTH events for the Super Smash Bros. online community, but each game requires tweaks to the format. Here's how it works for Parallel TCG.

KOTH Rules:
In KOTH, the winner, known as the king, stays on the hill, and the loser rotates to the back of the line. Players need to win a specified number of games in order to win the event. The prize pool for KOTH is typically rewarded solely to the first place winner, however, MMG has been known to experiment with various methods of distributing the prize pool to more competitors. 😉

Due to length of Parallel matches the number of wins needed was reduced from the 10 MMG requests during Smash Bros. Ultimate events, to just 3. Even still, winning 3 games of Parallel proved to be challenging for everyone involved when the field was leveled to starter decks only and opponents that can counterpick your best paragon.
