depends, if you do content and you think your article is worth your worth then it's okay, it can be a small reward for writing it too. it's bad if you spamshit and upvote (10 word article)

Well its your power so you should be able to use it how you please if it's a problem should not even be possible to self vote.

One of the question i'm asking myself either. Why is it possible in the first place if widely unaccepted ...

i think it would be best if self-upvoting were disabled at code level

If it were then people would just use proxy accounts. It's hard to control things with code when people are devious.

True, yet it's an extra stage of difficulty for them.

A Trusted Reputation system such as the one planned for # could resolve the proxy issue imo.

keyboardThreads is SO buggy i'm thinking of a weeks break.

friday is update day ... today that is! 🖖🏼☀️🤙🏼

This might be one of the reasons why self-upvoting is possible at all.

i think hive should not disable function, i mean if i hold my token i should be free to do what i want with them

That’s called censorship. If I feel my post is valuable then I should be able to upvote it.

i recognise your opinion

i wouldn't call it censorship.

i think self-voting is open to abuse. It favours those without integrity (imo) who might self-vote low value posts.

Happy to see u don't abuse it.

Sat Nam

In my experience the people that abuse it don’t have a big enough stake for it to really matter much, IMO. I am sure if bigger accounts did it, someone would get after them for it and “shame” them. I’ve never bought into that though.

Telling people not to self vote is censorship… If we feel our content is valuable, then we have the right to upvote it. I have never understood why this is an argument.

What if the witnesses decide to remove the possibility to self-vote like they decided to raise the $HBD APR?

So that would have been done already as this is an OLD argument. And I would remove my vote from any witness that does that. Again it’s censorship.

Wow almost 25% saying it is ok! wtf
Imagine all the whales upvoting their own things, aye right then what rewards are available for you from the reward pool.

This would seriously drain the pool ...

I'm not sure. I voted on my posts until I hit 1000HP. Especially for new users with little accounts it may help them. However it depends on the circumstances. Would be clear if selfupvoting wouldn't be possible.

It seems like a legit thing to do as long as it's done within certain limits.
