Why minimalists have 1000X more chances to succeed in Crypto ?

Today, I was planning to write about why Reddit Co-Founder Alexis Ohanian's venture capital fund, Seven Seven Six, and the Solana Foundation is investing $100 million in developing decentralized social media on Solana (SOL).

This year, I have participated in some clubhouse sessions that Alexis was a speaker and he always talks about empowering creators' economy and he mentions that community building was one of the main reasons why Reddit succeeded.

Always thought Alexis would be a great investor for our decentralized Hive, I'm watching his actions closely via Twitter and also started following Raj Gokal (the co-founder of Solana).

So I decided to talk about minimalism because I saw Raj Gokal ReTweet.

Minimalists understand the true dedication and what it takes to build a good product.

Steve Jobs colleagues recall a visit to his house:

I remember going into Steve’s house and he had almost no furniture in it. He just had a picture of Einstein, whom he admired greatly, and he had a Tiffany lamp and a chair and a bed. He just didn’t believe in having lots of things around but he was incredibly careful in what he selected.

Just try to imagine Steve Jobs house to this man's house in the picture below.

Do not try to do everything. Do one thing well.

I know most people in crypto who trade, invest, mine, build, and also might have full-time or part-time fiat jobs. I guess its nothing wrong with this but surely does decrease one's ability to focus. That means they're less likely to be great at anything but will become average in many things.

When you have leverage, Judgement is the most important skill

Ultimately, everything else that you do is actually setting you up to apply your judgment. One of the big things that people rail on is CEO pay. For sure there’s crony capitalism that goes on where these CEOs control their boards and the boards give them too much money.

But, there are certain CEOs who definitely earned their keep because their judgment is better. If you’re steering a big ship, if you’re steering Google or Apple, and your judgment is 10 or 20 percent better than the next person’s, society will literally pay you hundreds of millions of dollars more, because you’re steering a $100 billion ship.

I know I haven't always made the best decisions in my life. But being a minimalist is allowing me to think clearly and increase my ability to make good judgments. I have made many mistakes and I failed many times. These will also allow me to make good judgments. Crypto is the new frontier and I only need to make a couple of key decisions right.

Success with crypto depends on many factors

Timing, luck, emotional intelligence, ability to learn new things (self-education), Long term thinking, and abundance mindset are just to name a few. I personally think being a minimalist will increase the odds to succeed with crypto.

Minimalism is not for everyone, I started practicing minimalism a few years before I got into crypto. Traveling and Crypto made me extreme minimalist.

Do not invest what is left after spending but spend what is left after investing.

Minimalist usually spends less and live frugally. Entrepreneurs are usually passionate about solving some problem. My Entrepreneurial attempts taught me how to live extremely frugally so that I can take extreme risks.

I will not advise anyone to take extreme risks, especially if you have a young family. I do think cultivating long-term thinking and connecting with like-minded people (your tribe) can make what is extreme risk for others a simple risk to you (and your tribe)

Hello @nathanmars! This was an amazing article to read. I agree, minimalism isn't fo everyone but it's something to try when pursuing a lifetime goal. I think that clear, uncluttered spaces can allow the brain to focus more and better. I personally would choose this lifestyle over any other. Also, when immersing in the crypto world, having a self-education and the right mindset can get you closer to accomplishing your purpose. I'm working on that myself. Thank you for opening this valuable discussion! I wish you all the success in the world in your entrepreneurial journey.

self-education

is a huge factor

The tools for learning are abundant. It’s the desire to learn that’s scarce.

What's the point of having stuff you don't use?
I sold my DSLR this spring because I wasn't using it... I had times when I didn't owned a car, because I didn't need it... I'm not a minimalist, but my cars trunk can definitely fit almost all my possession.

Love this!

I could easily fit 21 possessions that I owned in a backpack.

I'm not sure I could live as a pure minimalist as I have things I am attached to, but I have seen what a hoarder's house is like and I'm a long way from that. I just did a short podcast about 'going viral' and how some people go all out for fame, but only a rare few can achieve that. We each choose what path to take in life, although some have less choices than others. It does seem in the crypto world that many go all out for riches, but does that always bring happiness? Life is a journey and you need to enjoy it along the way. Money is not the main thing that drives me, but then I am fairly fortunate.

One way of defining minimalist is the person who does really loves the few things they own and also a person who only does very few things they love.

Life is a journey and you need to enjoy it along the way.

I choose a simple way to live with fewer items.

I share this quote from theminimalist.com and one day you might be curious about learning more about minimalism.

Minimalism is a tool that can assist you in finding freedom. Freedom from fear. Freedom from worry. Freedom from overwhelm. Freedom from guilt. Freedom from depression. Freedom from the trappings of the consumer culture we’ve built our lives around. Real freedom.

I don't think there's one way of living that suits everyone, but that is okay as we are free to go our own way. Whatever works for you is good. We have seen too much conflict with people trying to force their ideas on others, not that I think minimalists are likely to be that militant :)

We have seen too much conflict with people trying to force their ideas on others

Thank you for reminding this to me!

I have so many things that I don't even know where to begin. I wish I could just pick up and leave town and leave them all behind, but then it'd be someone else's burden. I'm going to start trying to sell things that have value for now.

Starting is the key and I would strongly recommend reading TheMinimalists.com if you're curious about minimalism.

I’ve seen their films and used to listen to their podcast a lot. I just didn’t really go through with getting rid of everything.

The times I've been single in my lifetime, I've never needed much; but so drastically different when I'm in a relationship. I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I am more than happy in my situation with my fiancé and her boys, but it's such a huge difference in needs or in some cases - why the heck do we need these - is prevalent.

This is very true.

Even if we take away the benefits of having fewer items, going through the elimination process of what's truly matters many times over and over again will improve our judgement skills. That means why to tend to make good life choices :)

Its not only in crypto. Spend money on shit you don't need = less purchasing power on other things. That compounds in a negative way over time.

Look people spend 100$ on a T shirt or other stupid shit.

I would tend to agree since they only aim for what is needed. In a way, compound interest is amazing since the tiny bit extra you save increases a lot over time.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

All the benefits in life come from compound interest - relationship, money (crypto), habits.

Compounding interest also benefits when practising minimalism.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I wish I had the strenght and diligence to live like this, the peace of mind to leave everything behind and just move on without the unneneccasy clutter.
I am too attached to material shit and my mindset is not in the right place, one day maybe...

Great post, wish you a good end of the week!

one day maybe

If you really curious then start today because years from now you might be sitting around pining for someday to arrive someday.

Forgot to add in my previous comment, I believe you are from London correct? I'm in London too and I was wondering if you fancy to grab a pint one day maybe and have a chat over crypto and life in general

I do not know much about you but from the little I know you were quite active in the past and are a HIVE believer doing a great job for this chain, then life hit and you had some "problems" that made you go back to a less crypto-oriented life but let me say that it's good to see you are back! 😎

It would be really cool to meet you imho and have a chat about stuff :) So yeah let me know if you fancy a beer with a crypto fellow from London 💪 Cheers

I would love to meet you in London.

Actually, I left London last week to attend my granddad's funeral in Sri Lanka. I hoping to come back after Christmas.

My Telegram is @nathanmars7 and we can connect there now and start talking until we meet in IRL:)

Ohh I see, actually now that I think about it I saw one of your posts about Sri Lanka few days ago, I should have guessed you're still there.

Condolences for your granddad.

Enjoy your time off from the mad city 😁

I would love to meet you in London.

Great to hear, I'll add you on telegram in the meantime.

Have a nice weekend and catch you on telegram and around Hive :)

You are more than right! This should be a wake up call, stop saying it and start doing it!

Thank you 🙏😎

I grew up in a minimalist family. I’m not sure it’s my character, but I can very much say it is my culture. This helps me control my spending when I need to and when I don’t, I find both worlds easy to balance.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I grew up in a minimalist family.

I'm the opposite and that's probably why I little extreme.

Finding a balance in everything we do is a key to a peaceful life. Also for crypto life.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I get the whole minimalist philosophy. I see myself a more utilitarian. If I can't see how something can be of use I hesitate to acquire it.

Everyone is different. Sometimes putting a label on things makes people confused.

I'm glad that you understand the philosophy behind minimalism.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Labels aren't always helpful to describe a philosophy or anything else. I do appreciate open empty spaces. 😀

I do try not to spend on purchases that are not needed, but with a young family with special requirement, these always take priority and everything is done in the idea of the future for them not to worry about money

You're a great dad! Be proud of yourself.

dude, love these minimal vibes.

Truth is, I'm mostly spending into things that I deem really important, this is probably because I'd rather have what I own in crypto. It's part of everything I've come to learn. Crypto have taught me to be very decisive of the things I owned.

Making the right decisions with the crypto journey is the key to success.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I think most minimalist worries what to do first because they're so mindful of their actions but I think it's good. Why spend so many things when it's not necessary.

I agree , more like "jack of all trades , master of none"...

Absolutely. And you said it simply :)

Alright sir...how was your day?? @nathanmars

I'm having a great day. Thank for asking.

Let's end 2021 strong!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yeah sure we will end it strong and 2022 would be better for us...

It is very true that being minimalist helps you concentrate better, because if you don't have so many things to take care of you will have more time for the important things.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

You absolutely understand the core message of this post.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

minimalist frees us to live a normal life, a life with direction with a more passionate pursuit of our greatest purpose and goals.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I would love to dedicate more time to crypto. Unfortunately I have these things called expenses that require me to work. I do make time daily to research crypto daily. I love Solana, and will be buying more shortly.

I would love to dedicate more time to crypto

I'm sure you will figure out a way to do this :)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It is really difficult to do many things at once. But there is nothing impossible. If you have a new family then cryptocurrency will become a part of you as well. Thank you very much.

nothing impossible

A focused person with a calm mind can make anything happen.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yes, that's right. Thank you.

Do not try to do everything. Do one thing well.

It is really not possible to focus well on any of the many tasks at once. Another nice thing is if you have a new family then it is better not to invest in cryptocurrency without planning.

If you chase two rabbits, you will not catch either one

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

In our vernacular it is said that if one steps on two boats, he cannot reach one boat. Thanks

Do not try to do everything. Do one thing well

The world and paradigm has been changing. From now on, we have to become skilled in one area as well as following the new technologies so that we can do one thing well.

We must be grateful for the technology that allows us to automate, delegate and simplify so that we can focus our energies to become skilled in one area.

I just steadily invest. I may trade in pennies... I'm one of the k8 whom can't afford to gamble. All my plays have to be calculated and safe. Crypto is a dangerous ground for the over zealous. Treat crypto like stocks and research investment techniques. Do your own research always. Be safe out there folks.

You're aligning your short-term actions with your long-term values!

I just steadily invest

Damn good advice.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That is what I learned from watching Warren Buffet investment techniques.

Please I'm confuse about this minimalist. What's really all about. Is this minimalist a coin.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Minimalist is definitely not a coin.

One way of explaining Minimalism is

Minimalism is a tool that can assist you in finding freedom. Freedom from fear. Freedom from worry. Freedom from overwhelming. Freedom from guilt. Freedom from depression. Freedom from the trappings of the consumer culture we’ve built our lives around. Real freedom.

I've been trying to adopt the minimalist perspective both in terms of life style and individual finance. So far what I see is more wealth and happiness in my life. Cannot complain for sure ^^

I'm so happy for you :)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Many thanks dear <3

I am not minimalist in any sense, but I do try to find out if I will ever use whenever I want to buy any new thing

The ability to separate wants from needs is a superpower.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I am a total advocate of the freedom of a minimalist lifestyle!

It’s important to know our values.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I hear the moment minimalists stop being minimalistic they go over the top though.

Minimalism is a practice that helps me focus on things are most important in my life.

Sometime I became my own enemy by going very extreme. But then I know extreme people get extreme results

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

But where do you draw the line between minimalism and just being a cheap stake? Sometimes it confuses me.

As a minimalist, I tend to measure things from the perspective of what's truly valuable to me. Not the price.

I would recommend this blog if you're really curious.
